Well I got my faulty bike back from halfords today, they had it 3 weeks or so whilst it was sent away. It looks like the rear hub motor has been swapped out and also the front chainring/sensor. I cant fault them really as I didnt have any proof of purchase, although a failed motor at 1000km...

Charger isnt too bad, battery is dear though, but I guess thats too be expected. Personally I think the existing battery will outlast the rest of the bike! It seems impossible to buy hesc suntour bits anywhere, google shows up absolutely nothing which I find a real concern to be at the mercy of...

    suntour hesc conversion bits help

Some very rough guidance please. My halfords carerra crossfire has packed up. I'm not the original owner & have no receipt for warranty & I have no faith in them being able to assist. (I suspect the controller or torque sensor in the crank) So I have the hub motor & the battery. I am assuming a...

Bugger I had no assist when leaving work tonight in the rain. There is a new rubbing noise coming from the crank area, sounds like something has come loose. Will investigate tomorrow once its light. UPDATE Nothing obvious wrong, took the plastic battery thing apart covering the electronics, all...

The overload explanation is plausible, but a massive design fault if true. Whenever mine cuts, its ALWAYS up a light incline. In fact I can predict where it will fail if its going to. It did again this morning in exactly the same spot as it has done a few times in the past. In fact I was taking...

Ha it depends! Downhill - the same Uphill - quicker Flat - maybe slower, its a heavy bike once you are above the assist speed. Getting away from junctions - quicker You will arrive at work fresher though for sure. And on mornings when you are a bit tired or after a long day, crank up the assist...

You are just using it for commuting? It depends on the route, traffic, cycle paths and hills really. My commute is 3.5 miles each way, with 4 steep'ish hills & quite a bit of twisty turny bits that the assist is good for. When I get going im out of the overly low assist speed anyway, so still...

Its rubbish, but better than solid forks. I wouldnt dream of riding mine on anything but tarmac. Its notably smoother with lockout off. I see no point in the lockout at all, not on this sort of bike anyway. Fair enough on a long travel mtb when you are stamping on it trying to cycle up hill to...

Maybe its just me but any ebike with a front derailleur is a massive turn off. I dont want the extra handlebat clutter & complexity & see no need for one on an ebike. Heck even my top end mountain bikes dont have these fitted anymore!

It isnt. Maybe rotate it 90 degrees forward so it points down then wrap a plastic bag around it? Also this ebay bike, its been up for months, since I bought my bike from ebay anyway. Not much use without a charger, thats why I didnt buy it despite being local...

Its slowly spins the rear wheel, not sure what the point is. Ive never used it. Maybe useful to help push it home if you get a puncture?

Interesting little article comparing the crossfire to a pedal bike London to Brighton. He should never have believed the claimed mileage :) http://www.shortlist.com/tech/we-tested-an-electric-bike-against-a-regular-bike-in-a-race-to-brighton

Bugger. Mine went again this morning just on the flat. Had to turn the battery on again but it failed again immediately. Did this a further 3 times & gave up as I was close to work anyway. So tieing the battery hard to the frame didnt work, will have to try the foam rubber underneath it next.

    Pokemon go! Just go please!

I thought they looked like typical dozy pedestrians, glued to a phone or wearing headphones, meandering around oblivious to others or their surroundings. I cant stand pedestrians, when I'm on my bike anyway. When I'm a pedestrians, I cant stand bike riders, always zooming by too close!
