I've been a happy customer of a wisper 806 alpino for over 3 years and have passed 6500 kms on my commute between sevenoaks and holborn (via the southeastern train bit).

However last week the battery seems to have developed an intermittent fault where the power just shuts off (the switch led is off) but if you switch the battery off and then back on again it works before powering off.

There is no error code (I've ridden the bike enough in winter enough to see the flashing cold weather low voltage error code and the occasional sensor error code) just a complete lack of power at the controller and motor. Plugging the battery into the charger seems to charge the battery but i have noticed that the charge level is significantly lower than pre-fault times.

I'm changing jobs at the beginning of Feb 2014 and will not be using the bike as much (if at all as the new job means no more trains into London). So a new battery is not really economical, however it would be useful as a backup bike for work.

I've yet to attempt to remove it from the case and attack it with the multimeter to see whether it is one of the cells, a controller or a switch problem but is the battery easily disassembled or does it need specialist tools? Also are there any recommended battery repairers/reconditioners?
