Yup - and it's great!

I went out down the prom and rode up every steep cliff path I could find (which are 1 in 4's and a few 1 in 3's) and this thing climbs like a mountain goat! God knows what the 750w version is like! Top speed is current limited on PAS only @ about 23/24mph (which is a nice cruising speed) but throttle got me up to about 30mph which is bang on for the gearing. Did 14 miles and only used half the battery as well.

Upgraded to 10 speed shadow plus:-

Managed to get the chain (kmc 10.93) , cassette (11-36 HG62), shifter (Deore M591) and rear mech (SLX GS) for the grand total of £88 delivered.

Quick test ride though the local rock gardens shows it to be nice and quiet and even running in the 11t gear I could throw the chain. Job done :)

Quick pic of the chain guide I've fitted as the chain slips off the front ring when in the 36t cog at the rear:-

Took it out for it's first off road trip yesterday - the "8" red route at Gisburn Forest in Lancashire. Nice route, nothing to serious and I even had a go on a few black runs :) Certainly more bum clenching moments than when I was 20 and doing this though! Used 4.8ah from the pack out of 12ah and we did 11.2 miles - so that's 23 miles range off road - and I was using max assist ALOT as I really wanted to push the battery - although in a group it was too powerful to be honest. Backing of the assist when appropriate I reckon a good 45/50mile ride would be possible. Really happy with the way the bike performed - only one issue was the chain keeper came loose, so it stopped me using the 36t ring at the back as it dropped the chain at the front if using that gear.

Run down the black run "Hully Gully", taking it easy:-

Also managed to reprogram the controller.

Just a few simple tweaks - 100% throttle in all pas modes, 100% speed in all PAS modes, tweaked throttle to start at 30% current instead of 20%, same with PAS. Reduced "power off after stopping pedalling" from 25ms to 20ms.

Happy with those tweaks for now. I've also set it to 5 PAS modes - 9 was too many - especially off road where you need to be quick changing modes, programmed as follows:-

mode pas speed
0 0 0
1 10 100
2 25 100
3 50 100
4 75 100
5 100 100
6 100 100
7 100 100
8 100 100
9 100 100

Then selected 5 modes in the display via the advanced menu so only modes 0 thru 5 are accessible.

Now I'm making a frame mount box - cutting a polystyrene template atm then I'll cover it with fibreglass - hopefully better than the simple wooden box I have atm. Pics soon!

Looking good. Hully gully looks fun ! Am getting the twinges for a full-sus, bit more stripped down. Love my Trek Hardtail & it's good for longer rides with all the comforts but I still don't really hammer it as much as I would a more dedicated off-road bike.

Very nearly succumbed to one of these earlier in the week, but still haven;t taken the plunge ...

I redid my battery box today - the wooden one was only ever temporary - found a nice electrinics enlcosure - reinforced it with come left over csrbon fibre sheeting I had lying around and painted it a darker colour to blend in a bit more and added a stencil. The box isn't removable from the bike like other aftermarket batteries (but I've never been overly convinced on how secure a 3kg battery is when just bolted on with two water bottle bosses) but remove four phillips screws at each corner and you can take the lipo pack out.

Pretty happy with it:-
