Broken plastic battery mount on ebike... any ideas please?

I have a Cyclamatic power plus bike which I bought second hand last summer and only rode a few times, have been charging the battery once a month to keep it ticking over during winter but the plastic mount, which surrounds the prongs which connect to the battery, has shattered into pieces - whilst I can jigsaw the pieces back together and mount thebattery OK it started disconnecting a few times today on bumpy parts of my ride.

Does anybody have any idea what this piece is actually called and if so where I might be able to get a spare?

The photo shows the plastic pieces in raised/jumbled up mode from when I lifted the battery out.

I've always called it the battery platform. I had exactly the same happen to a very similar one on an Ezee e-bike, but I pieced it together again with Araldite and it lasted ok permanently.

That's the pukka 24 hour setting stuff, not the Araldite Rapid which is too weak.

Otherwise try SportsHQ for a spare, since they are the agents:

That's great - thank you. I'll try Sports HQ first, I did look on their website but couldn't see any spares but worth a quick message just in case.

If not then Aradlite sounds a good option! Did you just glue the pieces back together ao it was still detachable or did you glue them to the 'floor'?

I made it still detachable. I did post a photo in here at the time, but pedelecs was on a different web platform at that time and the photo has disappeared.

I was going to say the same. I'd be surprised if they carried that as a spare part unless they have a scrap bike to strip down. It should be OK with plenty of araldite. I sometimes add a bit of fibreglass cloth to reinforce it across the joint whne it's an edge joint like that.

I've never seen them sold on their own, but i have seen them sold with the batteries, like this:

If you trawl through aliexpress, you should be able to find a 24v battery with the alloy strip and base for less than £200. Your battery must be getting old now, so you could kill two birds with one stone.

those batteries are usually delivered with the locking bar and base plate. If they sell spare batteries, they should have them.

When I posted about the broken platform, 50cycles saw the post and immediately despatched one to me FOC, first class post, so they were carrying it as a spare.

It was too late though, since I'd already repaired mine and didn't bother to swap it over.

Thanks all, I did message Sports HQ so will wait to hear back from them - if not then is this the 'right' type of Araldite?

Sorry to be dense but could you explain what you mean about the fibreglass cloth please?

Thanks both, got an email back from Sports HQ to say they'll send me the part free of charge - what fantastic service! If for any reason it's the wrong part or doesn't fit then Aradlite with the cloth it is!

PS good job you posted that link about the fibreglass cloth... I'd read it as microfibre and was intending on using a big fluffy cleaning cloth!!

I'm not surprised, 50cycles did exactly the same for me when mine broke. The goodwill value of such acts is far greater than the cost of the part, so it makes good commercial sense.
