Can I fit a higher rated controller to get Sine Wave control?

Hi,

I'm looking to get a front wheel hub motor, legal power level, but would like a sine wave controller to go with it.

The supplier I have been looking at, Risunmotor, supplies a suitable looking motor, but the lowest power sine wave controller they supply is 750W (at 36W).

My question is will the controller overload the motor, or will it's internal resistance (or should that be impedence) limit the current?

I'm an engineer but mechanical, not electrical so would be grateful for some guidance from someone who understands these things better than me.

thanks

Simon
