Some time last week, I noticed the Google Earth shortcut was missing on my notebook. When I attempted to download the application the following was reported.

"Download failure, we are aware of this problem and are currently working to fix it".

Fortunately, the application was still working on the main PC, until this morning, it's gone!. This is annoying, because I use Google earth a lot for planning routes.

Has anybody else experienced this?. Operating system is bog-standard Windows 7 with IE whatever the latest revision number.

The problem appears to have been caused by the downloading of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based systems (KB976932). The day after windows updater installed this pack, Google Earth disappeared from both PC's.

The application has now downloaded successfully onto my notebook. Surprisingly, my saved routes are intact. Tomorrow, I will repeat the process on the main desktop PC.
