Indexing issue since swapping to a electric hub

Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi guys,

Long story short... I had a ribble road bike and purchased a q128c and a new rim that was laced onto it. I carried out the conversion and everything was fine apart from the fact I could only use the 2 larger cassette gears.

I’ve taken the bike to a local bike expert who has been pulling his hair out over the issues.

Apparently the indexing works for the first few, grinds on the next but then when going back up the gears it goes completely out of indexing and no longer is right on the first couple.

He’s done the cables, full indexing multiple times, changed the rear derailer but no luck.

He’s also switched back to the standard wheel and then put the cassette on that but it’s still having the same issue.

Is there anything anyone can think of to save this bike

I had to slightly grind the dropouts but the wheel spin perfectly Center and doesn’t wobble at all so I don’t think that’s the issue.

Anything I may have done to the bike or obvious?

has he replaced the outer cable?
Some times, the outer cable frays through at the shifter, you can see how the damage can occur at the ferrules:

If the inner or outer has a slight kink anywhere then shifting will be rubbish, replace both inner and outer.
Fitting a hub motor wont affect how the gears change.
