Hi All,

This is probably easy for most of you but I am a total noob. Got my first puncture on my Haibile Xduro Cross 3.0 and have the tube out... I really have no idea the best replacement tube to get, im doing a bit more light off roading down dirt tracks mixed with bit if road riding. The numbers on it are as follows "Scwable No 19 29/28/27.5 40/62-584/635" and the wheels say 28"

Now do I have to match those exactly, I'm really lost, already bought one from a local guy, even showed him a pic and the valve doesnt fit :(

Cheers

Ignore the tube Adam, what does it say on the side of the tyre? It will have something like 700 x 35. Basically you have a 27" wheel, even though sometimes called 28" or even 29. The second number is the tyre width.

The valve types are illustrated below, but it sounds as though you have Presta rims but have bought a Schrader tube:

This web page has a typical tube with a choice of size and valve type shown.

thanks a lot flecc, on the side it says 42-622 (28x1.60-700x40C) 50-85 PSI whatever all that means?

That's a choice of ways to express things Adam. As usual, each country has their own way(s), European, American, Oriental etc.

Use the simple one, 700 x 40C. The 700 and the C are the nominal rim type and size, the 40 the tyre width in millimetres.

On that web page I linked to the first option to select is the valve type which you'll know from my illustration, probably Presta.

Then the next choice would be the second one 700 x 35-45c, which as you see includes your 40mm width. However they are unfortunately out of stock of that one, but you can search online for 700 x 40 inner tube.

If you want to buy from a local shop, just quote 700 x 40, or 42 x 622. They'll have stock with one of those markings.

Finally the 50 to 85 PSI is the recommended tyre pressure range to use.

At the 50 pounds per square inch end for best comfort, at the 85 pounds per square inch end for lowest rolling resistance, highest performance and best puncture resistance.

Cheers flecc ordered fitted and sorted :) Cheers for your help.

Is it worth going tubeless for the future, doing more off rode than on, so reckon I could be in for a few more flats... if yes do I need to change the wheels?

Cheers
