I've had my Kalkhoff Tasman since 2015 but the battery is now beginning to die. In fact I've noticed this since last summer. I wrote to 50cycles where I purchased the bike but they said they were only doing warranty work on batteries at that point. My local dealer quoted around £600 for a 11ah battery. Personally I think that's really OTT and was wondering if people on the forum had any recommendations for reliable, cheaper alternatives? Thanks.

Quite a few on here have used jimmy's services to re-cell their batteries. He has a very good reputation and excellent knowledge. He does a top class job using a £20,000 welder and will advise you on the best cells to use for your bike. You will end up with a far superior product with backup should you have any problems. As SW says, he does a courier pickup and return service and usually a 7 day turnaround. He deff. won't charge you £600. Give him a call or email.
Here's a replacement 13Ah for a price comparison.

Okay thanks. I don’t know anything about this. I think I’d really prefer just to buy a new battery. However how much is such a ‘recell’ likely to cost and does anyone here have any experience of that?
Contact Jimmy for a quote for recell, he will reuse your case and bms. He is in North London.
He will increase your 11ah anywhere up to 17.4ah esp if your battery only has 2200mah cells and for about 2/3's the cost of a new one.
