Hi all,

Apologies if this isn’t the correct place. I’m attempting to clean my freehub and have encountered a strange thing holding the body. Does anyone know what this is and what I need to remove it please? It’s the notched thing in the middle.

Looks like a notched retaining ring obviously there is specific tool to undo it, though if you may be able to undo by other means if it isn't too tightly torqued up.

If you have a pair of strong fairly thick nose taper pliers, open them and put the thick points into the two slots. The place a tommy bar like a socket set one across the plier handles, above one side and below the other, and use the leverage of that to try and turn to undo the collar. If it's not slammed up too tight that might work.

Thank you for the advice, after some searching I found a tool for Suntour freehubs that did the trick. Your help was/is very much appreciated.
