In Goa, Professor Purnanand Savoikar is working to reduce our dependence on sand. He's researching ways to make concrete by partially replacing sand with recycled waste plastic. Professor John Orr from the University of Bath says 10% of sand can be saved in this way..

Thanks for that.
Pity its only 10%, like the scrap tyre rubber used in road building, or car production even.
Maybe industry has or needs a tax incentive to use it, esp when the tech needs developing.
I seem to remember the use of scrap steel was blamed for cars going rusty!

Thanks, good reading, does acknowledge points like:
Disproportionate high cost of low volume production vehicles;
Difficulty of them getting an NCAP safety rating from cost and construction points of view;
High Cost of starting up, (Enterprise Ireland mentions limit of €100,000 on help for startups, and "De Minimis Aid" limit of €200,000 over 3 fiscal years, under EU regs).
And thats just the summary, phew!o_O

On top of the ongoing fight against losing its licence to operate in London, UBER has now lost a case on drivers rights. The court has ruled that UBER drivers must be treated as employees with paid holiday entitlement and sickness pay, not as casual workers.
In addition to the above UBER have now lost a case in Spain against being considered a Taxi company, and now the European Court have ruled that in all member countries UBER must obey the national laws as ruled by each country.

They seem to be coming unstuck throughout Europe and the UK now, something which pleases me. Now the authorities should tackle all the other companies using abusive employment methods which give people no employment rights or futures.
