Carrera Vulcan E-bike - chain slap

You're probably right - i think it could probably do with a good service in general. The only real maintenance I've done is cleaning and oiling the chain - everything else has just been fixed when it breaks. Thanks for the help.

Carrera Vulcan E-bike - chain slap

I meant that was how it was at the start of the second ride. On the first ride the chain was completely touching the chain stay. Not long after that video the chain went back to not having any movement and stayed that way for the rest of the 30 odd minutes i was using it.

Carrera Vulcan E-bike - chain slap

I just went out and had a good look over it. All seemed fine so took it out for another ride and while the issue was still happening it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as before. I took a video at https://photos.app.goo.gl/nfE3sDKbTQ89VMZF7 10 minutes into the ride and the issue completely...

Carrera Vulcan E-bike - chain slap

Just to be clear the chain has gone from being fine to literally now resting on the chain stay when coasting in the space of 10 minutes. I understand chains stretch but surely not like that? Before today i wasn't getting chain slap even on bumpy grounds, today I'm getting it on perfectly flat...

Carrera Vulcan E-bike - chain slap

If it was the chain wouldn’t it of not come on so suddenly? I would have thought that is something I would have noticed getting worse over time.

Carrera Vulcan E-bike - chain slap

My 3yo Carrera Vulcan with the Suntour HESC system has just today developed a loose chain when coasting. This is resulting in chain slap and the chain coming off frequently. It was quite a sudden change in that it was absolutely fine and then about a mile in to the journey every time i was...

    Wire split

I thought the plastic insulation melting a bit was me doing it wrong. It sounds like i didn’t get it too wrong for my first time. Thanks for the information.

    Wire split

As an update I manged to solder it all together. Not sure if I made it too hot though as I was heating up the wire so that the solder melted when placed on the the wire. I think I was only supposed to heat the wire up a bit and then melt the solder on the soldering iron. It managed to last...

    Wire split

Thanks both. I’ll order a soldering iron and let you know how it goes.

    Wire split

I’ve got a Carrera Vulcan ebike and yesterday the chain came off and ripped the torque sensor wire out of the battery compartment. The wire has actually been ripped apart from the connector so can’t just be put back in. Is there anyway for me to be able to get the bit of wire that is left...

    Insurance for e-bikes

I would recommend eta insurance for my needs. There's no ridiculous requirements for how the bike is locked up at home e.g. I can use a normal padlock on my shed. The other benefit is that as I lock my bike up at a train station the definition of an immovable object changes so it doesn't matter...

    Converting Specialized Crosstail

Does anyone have a recommendation of where i can get a similar hub kit to what Woosh are providing in the UK?

    Converting Specialized Crosstail

Trex as the bike will already have hydraulic disc brakes do you know if the whole brake would need replacing or if just the part that contains the sensor will need to? I take it is also ok to just add the sensor to the back brakes and leave the front stock?

    Converting Specialized Crosstail

Trex, i have to say that is a bit of a surprise to me when the discussion i had on Saturday seemed to suggest hydraulic brakes were a complete no go. I've sent them an email.

    Converting Specialized Crosstail

I didn't realise the BBS was a mid-drive kit. I don't really want to go down that route. So if i want to go down the hub route what kind of options are there for using hydraulic brakes? I'm prepared to pay more if it makes it easier.
