De restrict for off road use

Indeed, its possible of course that 'Police Scotland' found something about the bike that required the rider to have had a licence and insurance, so a serious offence maybe.

"Brompton weighs in on better battery laws to clamp down on eBike fires "

Its sounds highly unlikley that no-one is allowed to climb a ladder beyond 12ft without scafolding. There might well be some circumstances when those in emplyment have to errect scafolding.

"Brompton weighs in on better battery laws to clamp down on eBike fires "

Does that apply to private indiduals doing repairs on thier own houses ?

    Folding bikes

Yep, had one of them. Used to use it for walks annd kayaking trips in the 80s when the was only two of us and one car. Stash it at the end of the trip and then use it to cycle back to the start to pick up the car.

"How to protect your e-bike after huge spike in thefts"

If a thief had a big pair of cutters or a portable diamond disk cutter, why would they waste time trying to bypass a combination lock ?

    Folding bikes

As memory serves, when I first road a Brompton, it just seemd normal. But then I was able to ride a unicycle for a couple of miles back then.

    Folding bikes

Do you mean the one with the shock absorbing handlebars ? If so I had one of those, if you hit a small obstacle or pothole the handlebars would shift forwards to compensate ................

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

For that would be the case. But without such clauses in existing laws, ministerial announcements should have no legal effect.

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Ah, IC, its to 500W, my mistake. So in this case, why cannot a minister just write a letter and in effect change the law ?

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

So in the case of the current consultation around increasing the power limit to 350W, no change in the law is needed to make 350W legal, some Minister just needs to write a letter ?

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

31mm or 1.25" Those are Continental Contact Urban, light but very good puncture resistance. They ride well enough and are fine on cycle paths. Many years back similar tyres would have been just fine on the roads, but that was a time when the UK economy was in dire straits, but roads were...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

There are now stretches of road in my area that when your out cycling, for basic safety reasons you have to cycle in the middle of the lane and block the vehicle traffic behind. Cycling a metre or so out from the parked cars would no doubt improve the flow of vehicle traffic, but if you did...

    Switching from swytch

I have a Swytch motor front wheel on my eBrompton at the moment. KT controller, 12 magnet PAS, LCD4 display. No problem.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

No doubt Brompton are aware of that. Kinetics do conversion kits; https://www.kinetics-online.co.uk/folding-bikes/brompton/the-mtbrompton/ Fold does not look a lot different to a standard Brompton ..............

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

And there are rumours that Brompton are planning to release a 20" version with disk brakes and can take fatter tyres. If they do, I imagine it would be very popular indeed.
