Heartbroken family pay tribute to teen 'who loved going out with mates' after e-bike crash

Its very common for the 'laws apply to others' adults to come up with what they think are valid reasons why they are justified in breaking some, maybe many, laws. Not a good message to children though, since a lot of children do grow up to be adults.

Me ? A lot of public forums have rules like that, so just expect it.

The forum rules, that users agree too, seem clear; "You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks...

In the posted video someone says; "Though actually the motor is 500W"

    Why Ride Rad?

Indeed. But the video, which does promote the RAD, does not make clear whether its UK road legal.

    The 'next life'?

Whilst some of those 'lightweight' conversions might seem to be attractive, you can add a front hub motor, controller, PAS etc to a bike at around 2.25kg, plus battery. Is 2.25Kg a lot ? I dont think so. Could you save a 'lot' of weight with some form of fancy clip on motor ? I dont think...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Ambulance ? I have vague memories of them. Maybe they could be replaced by a Deliveroo collect and deliver service, their typical 'employees' would mostly already have bikes capable of towing a trailer.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Indeed, maybe the 'regulation' is already planned. Would the current lot in power be less than truthfull obout their intentions in order to appeal to the electorate ?

    Ebike and scooter ban

I wonder how many pedestrians are killed, on the pavement, over there by motorists ? Enough to ban cars maybe?

    Ebike batteries

Lithium batteries are used in gazillions of portable devices. Is there much history of these devices directly exploding when dropped or knocked ? For sure if a lithium batttery is damadged in a collision the thermal runaway process might start which some time later causes a fire, but thats...

So 338 fires reported in 2023. I wonder how many are not reported ...............

Health and Safety - Share Your E-Bike Battery Experiences & Recommendations

Exactly. The 20,000 figure quoted is a missleading statistic as all but a couple of members will know. First, there is no compulsion for any of those 20,000 members to report a battery fire. Second, to me it seem highly likley that a 'member' asking questions about batteries etc who then...

    Hi all

Indeed, I do wonder what the real number of actual active members, who post on a regular basis is, maybe a couple of hundread ? Also as far as I know there is no enforced legal compulsion for 'members' who may seek advice on here to post when things go wrong. So just because Joe Bloggs or...
