Your opinion is still appreciated, it is similar to mine. Just I didn't want to blow my budget on a bike I can't try off road first. So, when test rides are possible I will be trying some full suspension bikes and maybe upgrade then, or maybe not, depending on how impressive they are in comparison.

Both local shops I visited, Evolution and WE Cycle, have sold out of most models and I can't test ride what they have off road, so investing £3k-£4k in a bike may not be my best idea. I have heeded your wisdom Nev, and played safe, ordering a hardtail bike and suspension seatpost. Thinking it...

I have been a customer of Decathlon in France and UK for a few years now. Always been happy with the CS and on the rare occasion I have had to return anything, refunded or exchanged without any quibbles. Excellent prices for the quality as well.

Considering buying an EMTB for single track "exploring" in Snowdonia. So, plenty of climbs and downhills, but extreme drop offs and big jumps, etc. are not my thing. I want something capable, but easy to ride all day long. After some helpful tips on here already, thank you, my head is clearing...

Agreed, MK was a joy to cycle round. Even the Dutch would be jealous. Easy, well maintained paths, safe as you barely ever need to go on roads and well managed garden park like surroundings almost everywhere. But, for interesting off roading ....... hence I swapped to road tyres on my mountain...

Thanks for your suggestions. Wish I could run 10k several times a week, LOL. Just do 2 or 3 runs a week totaling about 20k, and that's mainly just the coast path, so not much elevation. Saying that, the pedelec is more for fun and exploring mountain trails than for exercise. You could be right...
