    Brexit, for once some facts.

There are some really good points in that, certainly modern toilets don’t flush like they used to when I was a lad! When the cylinder was 4 feet above the pan and operated by a chain, all in a shed at the bottom of the garden it was much more effective. My grandfather, Lancashire coalminer...

That does rather neatly bring us back to toilet roll hoarding. In the past if we had been short of toilet roll we would’ve used newspaper, quite successfully. Today they would only get one wipe with a smartphone. Deprivation of the stress and strain created by social media might actually...

I used to maintain creed 444 KSR which had the V24 interface, if you could find a working one of those you could easily interface it to a PC and use that. I think if I look carefully I can probably find the two tuning forks that we needed to set the motor governor speed to get the baud rate...

As was mine really, I can’t possibly have seen all the terabytes of data created and I’m sure amongst it somewhere there is some value..... An infinite number of monkeys with typewriters ( my crude paraphrase )

You certainly can indeed create your own Marmite, I have sometimes mixed random ingredients together to make a brown sludge and then put it straight to the bin.... 'er indoors loves Marmite... me I can leave it or leave it ;-)

Dad has an old wardrobe in the garage, it contains a quantity of chemicals that would cleanse several small towns, that doesn’t stop them ordering two bottles of bleach every week “in case” :-)

Born in the thirties, do you imagine for one moment that they are not fully stocked with twenty three years worth of cleaning supplies and tins of beans?

I do my mum and dads on line shop for them every week with Sainsbury’s. I booked their normal Friday delivery on Thursday and it arrived as usual, there was plenty capacity available given just 24hrs notice as usual. The only thing that was not in stock was soap.

I can easily hustle along at 20mph on the flat even on my heavy mtb, I can sustain that for quite long distances but it doesn’t take much of an incline to make me feel my hernia and that motor just helps me climb... but I agree with the sentiment of your statement Today I was out taking pics...

I was driving for 8 hours yesterday so I missed all the fun here, but I did spend a bit of time thinking about what is a better system than the recommendations of self isolation at this stage. As always - answers including would have, should have could have are not acceptable ;-)

Bizarre.... how can you disagree with me.... when I’m agreeing with you Currently the rebate is based on users purchasing a type of fuel and relying on the honesty of the user to only use it appropriately. Currently the only mechanism to confirm that honesty is to catch drivers doing wrong...

I suppose we have lots of temporary isolation beds that could be deployed, there was lots of noise in the press about how quickly the Chinese built a hospital, they achieved a lot but it wasn’t a hospital cos it didn’t need to be. The truth is they built temporary wards to treat a single illness...

Isn’t the advice to self isolate if you consider that you may be at risk ( due to travel etc ) but if you have symptoms you should immediately contact 111 ? Thankfully I have not had to do that so I don’t know what they ask but I wonder what DOC and procedure is implemented at that stage...

I agree. There are different types of miss use, some small scale fiddling Now I live in a small agricultural community, there is the odd road vehicle running on red but it’s not too common as there is roadside testing, People don’t benefit too much from running an old Pickup on red, the...

Proving the actual usage to obtain the rebate may in fact be the driver behind this. It’s far too easy to have a delivery of red (edit) or green of course :) which is then shared between vehicles that should and shouldn’t obtain the rebate. At the moment there is no way to know what is...

Red diesel and heating oil are different. They have different colours and chemical traces and they attract different revenue rates. Any increase in red diesel cost will affect me although the amount that I use is so small I won’t notice it to be fair. It will stop the road hauliers that...
