    25 to 30 miles /charge.

I get this from my 8.8Ah/36V (316Wh) possibly in similar terrain on the hilly Welsh borders. My husband, using the same bike on the same route gets less - about 18 miles at best, but I am 52kg and he is 90kg so this clearly makes a difference. Extrapolating very roughly and very...

Elife Bike Folding Bike on Ideal World TV right now

It doesn't state the battery capacity but 7kg...?! Presumably an error. On the face of it, it looks like good value. I have a folder myself so I can pop it in the back of my mini-campervan and explore further away from home.

Can you help with first Ebike choice

It looks good to me and is now £779 at ebikesdirect (which also dispatches Halfords' orders). I bought my second bike from there and the service was excellent with the bike double-boxed and when I later had a technical query, they were able to provide knowledgable advice. The range isn't the...

Evora 6.6 lithium Ion 36v battery

I have an 8.8Ah 36v battery on my folder and have achieved 25 miles easily in a hilly area with quite a few long inclines. I weigh 52kg but when my 90kg husband used it on the same route, he only managed about 18 miles so there are lots of factors to consider. If you are relatively lightweight...

Do ebikes take the fun out of cycling ?

No, for me electric bikes put the fun into cycling. I live on the Welsh border in an area with up to 20% gradients and to get anywhere is hard work. I'm not fit and I don't have the strength or stamina to pedal up the hills without the help of my electric bike's motor which makes the...

    Whose to blame here?

Having had several encounters with loose and uncontrolled dogs, I take a cautious approach. Here I would have slowed right down and possibly dismounted and walked past the dog. It's quite a topical issue for me.... Earlier this week I actually had to report a loose dog to the police. For...

First look at the new Woosh 26 x 4 Rio

Not sure I agree. I think it depends also on where you live. For any journey I make, I have a 2 mile roll along our local lane which is deeply rutted and used by a number of farms also on the lane so is normally covered in mud/cow dung. Add to this single-track lane the slippery line of...

First look at the new Woosh 26 x 4 Rio

Ummm..... Well, actually I quite like it. :) I like the fact it is quite rugged, has a pannier rack, broad and grippy tyres, mudguards and the 15Ah battery option. I use my bike for cycle touring and it would be just the thing for me on bumpy lanes and tracks and rough tracks with...

Is there a governing body to report a rogue e bike trader/retailer to ?

If it's a warranty issue then the manufacturer should be able to help (or is it Chinese...). If the retailer isn't co-operative then there is always Trading Standards or the County Court approach which I have used successfully in suing a camera retailer, mobile phone provider and Samsung.

What speed can you reach after power cut out at 15mph using leg power?

I've only managed 19mph (but I can't boast strong legs) and have been picked up a couple of times by the signs. Maximum downhill has been 29 - the bike could go faster but I wouldn't trust the brakes on our local roads.

Battery problem on Cree T6 light query

That looks good and the battery appears genuine. Coincidentally, I was offered the single-lamp version of this to test this morning. (I didn't accept - I've reviewed so many that I'm bored with CREE LED and doing other product ranges at the moment.)

Battery problem on Cree T6 light query

I've reviewed a few of those too. They're quite good while they work, can become hot in use but the main feature I wasn't keen on was the separate battery pack in its polyester case. A couple of battery packs failed on me within the month; the rest have been fine. Another lamp wouldn't switch...

Battery problem on Cree T6 light query

If it's failed so quickly, I would raise this with the seller. I've reviewed a lot of the CREE LED torches and found they are generally very good but some of the supplied 18650 batteries can be questionable. I'd contact the seller, via Amazon's messaging system if you purchased from there, and...

    Bike locks

I use a 90cm Sold Secure Silver (insurance approved) lock through my rear wheel and frame and chain my bike to a fixed post and/or another bike. They're not cheap (+£30'ish) and heavy to pedal around (2kg) but they are secure...

    Beautiful Bank Holiday!

Well, it's been a brilliant Bank Holiday week with perfect cycling weather. As well as my splash through the Cotswolds ford, I've cycled out to Raglan Castle, rolled up Symonds Yat Rock and into Symonds Yat East then along the Peregrine Path before heading over the Doward Hill (with a group of...

    Beautiful Bank Holiday!

There seem to be quite a lot of falls and bumps in the Forest! As I'm currently already nursing two broken bones, I've suddenly decided to wait a few months before hiring a bike and having a go myself - but I will! Re Bream: It's not a part of the Forest I've visited often but, other than some...

    Beautiful Bank Holiday!

Good idea, and maybe one day. I have to cycle over the Doward to get there - and this is steep in places but even my folder has somehow carried me up Yat Rock!

    Beautiful Bank Holiday!

Although I live very close to the Forest of Dean and have followed a few trails there, I don't think my bikes would cope with those trails. Perhaps I should just stick with rolling through my 'water splash' instead!

    Beautiful Bank Holiday!

Definitely, and enjoyed by 3 couples while a minibus load of po-faced Japanese tourists watched in some scorn as I rode back and to, back and to, rather more times than was sensible and appropriate for my age! Another lovely day on the e-bike: this time a 36 mile ride out to Raglan Castle...
