    Shimano Steps running smaller tires

Hi Emco5 If you do find an answer to your query can you please let us know - I intend to fit larger tyres on my wife's Shimano Steps powered Scott and would prefer to have the correct speed showing.

Hi. Just joined up. I get my Trek Powerfly 5 FS on Wednesday.

Hi John, welcome to the forum. Never seen a Powerfly before but by coincidence I was in my local bike shop yesterday and noticed these great looking bikes, had a closer look and they were Powerflys. Just in the shop a couple of days earlier. Really impressed with the build quality - as good as...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Great hearing that your Yamaha Sduro is still going strong after so many miles. Certainly gives me confidence in my purchase a couple of months back. Mine is the Sduro Hardnine 4 which is Haibike's budget model. I am really happy with the way it performs and so glad that it's a hardtail- most...

    New Bike

Hi AK. Yes, the Nevis is a bit out of the way but there's some great rides up there, big event once a year is the Pub to Pub MTB race from Garston Pub to Bannockburn pub. 80 kms of gutbusting riding, usually attracts several hundred competitors. Also love the tracks around the Manorburn Dam...

    New Bike

Funny you should mention that LP, I'm finding riding a lot easier on the ebike, I wouldn't call myself an expert on a normal mtb bike by a long shot, but I've been riding for the last 20 odd years, I'm finding the instant power gives me far better control around rocks and obstacles, although...

    New Bike

Hi IR772, you're right, NZ is mainly green and pleasant, but we live in the most inland area, on the 45 parallel where it's dry as old toast and searingly hot in summer, even drier and prickly cold in winter. The landscape has been scarred by the gold rush in the mid 1800's,, which my...

    New Bike

Not sure if this was the section I should be posting this in but here goes. I was in my local bike shop a couple of weeks back picking up some gear for my MTB (non electric) bike. The owners knew that I was considering buying an ebike at some stage and 'just happened" to wheel a Haibike past me...

    Cyclotricity stealth 1000w

Well done, great that you've found an ebike that suits you. I love hearing stories from people like you who are quite prepared to go out and carry on their interests even after your illness was diagnosed. And the fact that you have done more miles than most of us. I don't know much about the...

    Need help with Ebike choice

Hi Gary, I've seen the Haibike XDuro for sale here and they look a very nice bike - I would love one. What you call mountains in Aussie are really only hills, so a Trekker will be ideal!!

ARCC Moulton and the Process of Getting There (LONG)

You are probably correct regarding the competence of the user not being the only factor but it is the main one. I was at a wedding a few months back and noticed the highly regarded photographer was often snapping with his S7. After a couple of beers we questioned him on this and he replied that...

ARCC Moulton and the Process of Getting There (LONG)

It's all a bit tongue in cheek Templogin, I carry what suits me. If someone wants to look like a dork and have their pockets bulging, backpack filled to overflowing and all types of gear hanging off their bike then that's their progative. Me? I'm bike shorts (not Lycra!) cycle top and small...

ARCC Moulton and the Process of Getting There (LONG)

Which is usually a phone because who wants a DSLR and all the required paraphernalia hanging around their neck when out biking?

ARCC Moulton and the Process of Getting There (LONG)

But that's the point - diehards will keep preaching the DSLR as being far superior and cart around a backpack of lenses etc. but unless your an expert the resulting photos are usually no better than from a late model smartphone. Smartphone cameras have killed off the point and shoot camera...

ARCC Moulton and the Process of Getting There (LONG)

Unless you're a Luddite, of course smartphones are the way, I'm old and retired but I embrace all this modern technology (which ebikes are also remember). No way is carting around several devices more efficient than having everything on a smartphone. I'm also a keen photographer and I challenge...

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

Sorry to bring this thread up again but after doing over 200kms on my wife's hand me down Avanti Steps I'm loving the ebike experience, even though it's a size too small for me. My Rocky Mountain bike is languishing in the shed. I love that bike so have to do something to make it usable. I see...

    Crank Drive Motor Clunking Noise

Point taken Andy. I did try a bike with a Bafang after my last post and I didn't like it, just felt so unnatural, At the moment I have absolutely no desire to have a throttle and/or cadence only but that's my personal choice, others certainly prefer that option. My wife didn't like her top bar...

    Crank Drive Motor Clunking Noise

I don't know if you're quite right with your put down of the Shimano Steps Andy - they are a quality product and some say up there with Bosch and Yamaha, I think comparing the price with a 'clip on' is wrong. Both me and Wife have Steps and love the natural experience.

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

Thanks Guys, really appreciate your time taken to comment. I think I'll give up on the Bafang option - I enjoy biking the trails around our area and would hate to lose that enthusiasm by not having to do the work. That bionic legs feeling you guys talk about gives me a thrill, even more so at my...

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

Thanks TM, I was hoping theBafang kit may have offered the 'real cycling' experience that the Steps does - a throttle or moving the pedals doesn't interest me at all, may as well buy a motorbike! Maybe sell off the RM and look at a Merida or similar.
