    A Wet day in Wales

I went too, and was very saddened to see the rain spoil Pete's hard work in setting it all up. After getting soaked for an hour looking at the stands, I ventured into Presteigne for a cup of tea and the place was deserted -probably how it normally is, but after last years race, when the whole...

    Budget Bikes

<However, dont hold your breath, as most of these people have year round tans and look like David Dickenson!> Perhaps you could suggest that if they cycled in every day, they'd get those tans without the expense of fake tanning chemicals! I'm pleased to say that my boss cycles to work most...

Electric post bike seen in Germany

I didn't know the British post office were looking for pedelecs, but then I found a very recent article on the subject http://www.bike-eu.com/news/article.asp?id=2304 It sounds like Pashley ought to be thinking about electrics seriously before they lose out to a big contract. Did you see...

Electric post bike seen in Germany

Just come back from a week around Lake Constance (Germany) and saw a few of these -hub gear, disc brakes front and back and a motor in the centre. Looks very solid and practical. Also saw a few blue step through electrics but the only name I could see was Sprint (possibly Sprinter), but more...

Got my Giant Lite have a couple of questions

Congratulations to those of you that are still able to buy Giant Twists - I've just bought what was probably the last one for sale in the UK, after the motor on my previous one failed. I've just refitted the seven speed gear from my old bike, and I've just been out for a test run on the 'loop'...

    Presteigne bike race update

Thanks - that was a great clip - it looks like it was shot at Presteigne last year -I didn't see it unfortunately, although I was there . I wonder if it was in the morning before the bike race got under way? Alan

    Presteigne bike race update

Here's the latest : 2007 Tour de Presteigne will take place on Sunday May 13th as part of ECOearth 2007. I don't have any more details on ECOearth yet, but last year it was an entertaining fair with stalls showing off various eco products such as ground source heat pumps, sheeps wool...

Electric Bike Test rides - Bishop's Castle

Thanks -your review makes this sound a very practical machine for the type of people who want to make short journeys to the shops and be helped back up the hill afterwards. I don't think the slightly unusual shape will put people off - it would probably be a bonus for those who want to put it in...

Electric Bike Test rides - Bishop's Castle

Just to report that it was great success. Lots of people turned up, and although 50 Cycles didn't come, a new local shop did - a shop selling only electric bikes has just opened in Shrewsbury, so they bought a selection of their bikes over. Unfortunately, they were mostly cheap lead acid kids...

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

Sensor received with thanks. I've fitted it today and reassembled everything, but still no luck -motor as silent as ever. I guess it has to be that big circuit board. Alan

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

Well, if you would be so kind, its got to be the crank sensor or the main board, so it would be one more thing to eliminate. Rest assured I'll pay your postage costs! Alan

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

Many thanks for getting that sensor to me so quickly flecc. I've just spent the morning reassembling the motor, but I'm afraid to say its made no difference. I've just been out for a test ride and although the red light comes on as before, there's no output from the motor, which I guess means...

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

I'll try and get myself a new meter in the next couple of days, then I'll let you know for sure, but many thanks for the offer. That little circuit board only has three active components -three identical chips labelled 410 WHO, so in theory it should be possible to replace them -it would take a...

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

More readings I think I've been struggling to get the wrong connector off! There are two white connectors that lifted off easily -no varnish on them -the smaller one goes to the crank sensor (three wires) and the other to the motor sensor (5 wires). The one I was trying to prise off without...

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

I've just measured the resistance between the three terminals, and it shows zero ohms between any two terminals. I'll be interested to see what you get.

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

I've been and bought a crank remover - good job I took the motor with me, as the first one I picked up, (fits any modern bike I was told), didn't fit, and I had to exchange it for a more expensive Park one. So now the cranks are off, the casing is open and .... there's nothing apparently wrong...

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

Screws out, circlips of and case partially apart, but I can't get any further -looks like I need a cotterless crank remover, so I'm off to see if I can buy one

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

Thanks again. I've now successfully removed the motor unit. I can see five hex headed screws I need to remove, but first -do I need to remove the pedal cranks and if so how? I've taken the plastic covers off and removed the nut but they still seem firmly attached. Do they just need tapping with...

    Giant lafree twist electrical breakdown

Stiil no joy I've just spent a couple of hours checking all the wires to the hand control and the motor and comparing them to my wife's identical bike. Surprisingly they did not correspond the the readings I should have got according to the technical manual, but as they were mostly in...
