    segway

Saw a couple at the Eurotunnel terminal (French side) the other day. They had a couple of young ladies on them giving out flyers for the Eurotunnel shop. Also saw a member of staff on one in a French store (Decathlon I think).

    Wisper battery charger

I can vouch for that problem, having had a lishen lithium ion battery do exactly that. I believe it was the battery pack bumping around inside the plastic case that caused such a fracture in my pack leading to one of the cells burning! Fortunately the Battery Management System shut down the...

    Cycle helmets debate

And where do you stand on someone who chooses to wear a helmet and then receives a serious head injury which may not have occurred if they weren't wearing a helmet? A helmet, by increasing the effective size of the head has a greater potential to cause injuries by catching on the ground etc and...

    Agattu review (Flecc)

Here in Aldershot I heard the bookcase moving and my bed shook noticeably (no jokes) and I sat up wondering who was shaking it. I thought one of the children was playing silly beggars. Then I thought I was having a stroke! After a few seconds I realised what it was and it was quite scary.

    My Tongxin kit bike

Excellent post Frank, very informative too. At one time I was very keen on the tongxin motor too because of it's small size and freewheeling ability. The price direct from tongxin is great and as I already have a 36V battery which I use with my 8Fun motor then for about £150 I could motorise...

    deregulated

Perhaps they had taken a more scenic route to get there? Or had ridden past the pub to their destination and had only stopped at the pub on their return? :) I've looked at my commute timings and these are the results: 15-16 mile journey depending on route Non-assisted bike: 14.1mph...

whats your reason for useing electric bike

I've got a C1 too! :) How much mpg do you get from it? I'm averaging 58.7 mpg so far (mind you I've only filled it up 10 times since 1st June!) Oh, I got into electric biking because I wanted to make my 16 mile each way trip to work more feasible by bike. The major factor for me was the...

Suzhou Bafang Motor compare to Tongxin Motor

I've got the same motor then. Mine had an 8Fun marking on it. It's a good motor, very powerful at 36V. Don't bother with 24V though as it's gutless.

    Controller

Hello John If the bike is 24 Volts then at 16 Amps that would be 384 Watts, so a 16 Amp controller would be the minimum. Is the 380 Watts figure the peak power or the continuous rating? If it's the continuous rating then the peak power would be much higher and you may need something...

News: eZee Torq Trekking long distance test

I agree with all the posts regarding the poor performance of li-ion batteries. I've had one fail (not an eeze one) and another is so poor I don't bother using it anymore. I bought an eZee Nimh battery and charger earlier this year and have been absolutely delighted with it. I'll never touch...

perfect weight distribution + tires for electric bikes

I agree there except that when running on slicks take EXTREME CARE not to let your tyre stray onto anything other than tarmac. Just a few weeks ago I was thrown from the bike when my front tyre crossed a patch of mud about a foot wide at the edge of the road. Thankfully I was fine and landed...

I have to agree there. This has happened quite a few times to me, though I've haven't yet dropped the bike (and child)!

    Torq battery dilemma

Even at the risk of having no usable battery I would not buy another Li-ion until I see that users on this forum are getting 2 years of good performance out of lithium. (So that time is at least 2 years away) The way I see it is that if you buy a lithium then you're only encouraging the supply...

    36V Brushless controller on ebay

Ah so it seems the problem is not so much with the new controller connections as with not knowing what the ezee ones are. Can you open up the ezee controller? It may be that you can see where the wires go to and there may be some markings on the pcb to identify the connections.

    36V Brushless controller on ebay

Hello Andy Unfortunately it's lashing outside so I'm not venturing out to the shed to get the bike but I've looked at my controller and the notes and pictures I've taken previously. I think they work as follows First the ones you know about: 2 thick battery wires (red, black) 3 thick motor...

    fell off bike

It sounds like the sort of crash where a helmet could do more harm than good. When sliding off like that the helmet could catch on the road surface and wrench the neck violently and cause severe injury.
