Advice on supplier for hub kit

The dropouts are hooded and not much spare room. I think there should be just enough space. The washer in the diagram is m12 with an od of 25mm. Any filling width will be towards the front so as not to thin the back. Might need to use a socket to tighten up the wheel nut.

Advice on supplier for hub kit

The main reason I’m going over to the dark side is in the search of reliability. The TSDZ2 is great to ride but it’s a bit leaky. To get enough assistance on steep hills at a sensible cadence I’ve installed double chainrings but the chainline isn’t great and you need to think it through not to...

Advice on supplier for hub kit

Had a Quick Look, no details on hub and only from wheel kits so I think they are out.

Advice on supplier for hub kit

I think I really want a KT controller for decent current control and I don’t think woosh kits are kt controllers - happy to be corrected though. As far as I can make out they are speed controllers which wouldn’t work well for me. I really need to be able to set a low assistance level and get...

Advice on supplier for hub kit

I have decided to go over to the dark side for my next conversion and go with a hub. It is against all my core values and I feel dirty, but I'm going to do it anyway. The donor bike is a 2017 Cannondale trail 5. It's an entry level mtb style with front suspension. Forks and 27.5" wheels...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

Ok, I really don’t want to be left with a paperweight when in 1 year and 1 day the motor strips a gear. I know the motor is quite new but I can’t see any spares online anywhere and it is putting me off quite a lot. It definitely looks better put together than the TSDZ2 but I'm sure it isn't...

@Woosh I can’t see anyone selling spares for the tsdz8 motor. Do you stock spares? I run my tsdz2 with dual chainrings. I know that’s not possible with TSDZ8 but hope / expect not a big deal as the motor has more grunt. It would be 44t to 34t at rear on 27.5 inch wheels. I think that should get...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

Cannondale above. Does have weird wide bars and short stem that my friend wants back but I have the originals which will suit me far better. The crankset is a nasty cheapo job but that would disappear anyway with mid drive. Need to see if TSDZ8 will fit. @Woosh, your opinion? Do you have key...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

Well, the seller had said the bike was still available and he is arranging the courier. It’s always a bit of a risk on eBay but my experience is that buyers tend to be much better protected than sellers. He had an opportunity to pull out when he realised the courier was going to be far more...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

The plan is not to convert either of the Treks, although my crapcycle has rim brakes and I’ve not died yet. The Cannondale already has hydraulic disc brakes and that’s the one I’ll convert. The Trek is to get some exercise mainly, likely to only use in the dry and I’ve not had much issue with...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

There are no missing parts. Turns out the wheels are original as well. Price is good to fair. My son yesterday bought an almost identical fx 7.6 for -£140 delivered and that bike looks in very good condition. The seller made a mistake on delivery, listing it at £17.50, it’s actually costing him...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

With a tsdz8 at about 4 kg and 1.9kg for battery and under 10kg for the bike, should still be light. I am going to change the rear cassette and the granny gear and see how I get without a motor...

Just agreed to by a second hand bike

Trek FX 7.5, quite old but expensive aftermarket wheels etc, not that much abuse. Ding on top tube but nothing serious. Too good to convert really. Paying £130 which I think is a good deal! No disc Brakes which is a bummer. I'll either keep it or my son will take it.

Has anybody got direct experience of LiFePO4 batteries on ebikes?

I just checked, mine was a10Ah 36v Ping battery. I had a 42 mile round trip commute but could charge in the day so 21 miles on a charge. It was more uphill on the way back. Motor was front hub. At first it was fine with the 21 miles but very quickly it started suffering voltage sag and cutout...

Has anybody got direct experience of LiFePO4 batteries on ebikes?

If I remember correctly my 1st e-bike build used a ping LiFePO4. Can’t remember the capacity. It worked ok until it didn’t. Appeared to lose capscity quickly. It happened over winter so I put it down to the cold weather but in hindsight I suspect some cells went bad. My circumstances changed a...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Unfortunately I have - a battery is an easy target and in my case the battery is worth more than the rest of the crapcycle. I have been offered a Trek hybrid bike from a friend of a friend for a good price and there is a dent in the top tube. Looks suspiciously to me like someone has tried to...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Well, I am not asking you to do it. It suits me though. Sometimes it goes in a trunk bag, sometimes a pannier, never gets left on the bike. The last thing I want is to draw attention to my bike when I leave it locked up unattended. Imagine how annoying it would be to get out the pub full of beer...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

To celebrate the resurrection of the crapcycle, a photo. This is the hill I climb a couple of times a week. It’s harder work on Tuesday when full of beer and kebab.

    Woosh Camino

@Woosh, not wishing to do you out of a sale, but would the used Camino take a TS BB and beefier controller and do what I need or is the motor itself too weedy?
