    Emtb with Atrial Fibrilation

Hi @Zlatan - great to hear of your new found zeal for the cycling I've had 6 bouts of persistent AF in the last 5yrs which lead to my TSDZ2 build in Oct 21 AF currently under control (Amiodarone - a short term solution) and back to my normal 60-100 miles a week (when it's not cold/wet that is)...

    1st Build With Reclaimed Batteries

A Public Service Broadcaster - of which the BBC is one - play an important role in preserving and protecting our democracy, a role which cannot simply be dismissed or trivialised because it happens to 'entertainment' in carrying out its wider roles as a PSB. Many parts of our western society...

BBSHD proof IGH? The Revolute HUB1 6 speed Internally Geared Hub for High Power Ebikes

II'm no expert on gearing but just 6 gears that give a 400% gear range would give large steps between each gear. And if I had that sort of money for an IGH I'd be giving a Rohloff a serious look first (14 gears over 520% plus oodles of demonstrable reliability).

    1st Build With Reclaimed Batteries

Well..... one might think the BBC isn't great, and my knowledge of their inner workings is near enough nil, but for me I'm happy to pay for the many radio, tv and other programmes that are my preferred listening and watching choice. The alternatives are really quite dreadful. I'm talking of the...

Need help deciding on spec of electric bike

That's an interesting option for a budget bike - pity that these style of bikes always seem to have front suspension which makes the bike heavier and really isn't necessary with the proper tyres inflated appropriately. Good luck with your sales.

Need help deciding on spec of electric bike

+1 for what @Zlatan says especially about riding illegally of which such behaviour only brings the law abiding e-biker into disrepute.

Need help deciding on spec of electric bike

Just a general point on your desire to ride unassisted often - motors give drag when unpowered and some more than others. I've read the drag on BBSxx motors is very noticeable whilst the TSDZ2 doesn't so much. Irrespective of what motor and battery combination you settle on, the combined...

    Bike on Fire!

There are fires in EV's as there are in petrol cars/vehicles - one wonders if an employer/organisation frowning on ebike fires would/should take a similar approach to cars/vehicles, electric or otherwise? I somehow doubt it. A Google search on something like 'electric car fires' is a useful...

My Urban Mover 26S got stolen from my Car boot. DAMN THEFT!!!

It does look as though the pics were taken at quite different times as in the 2nd pic appears to have fallen leaves under the bush whilst the 1st one hasn't. Whilst I'd not think this is the case with this post, the story would be a great cover story for someone who'd stolen a battery and...

    Bike on Fire!

To us on the forum the cause of the fire has some interest, but to the general public its just another ebike fire with all the negative connotations that go with that. I'd hazard a guess we'll see more risk averse people/places/organisations looking unfavourable on ebikes.

    SORTED

That's an interesting comment. Whilst I'd not consider WD40 as an insulator, neither had I considered that it'd be conductive either, and certainly not at the sort of voltages found around ebike batteries. Mr Google gives different answers but the majority indicate that WD40 is OK to spray on...

E-Bike related clip taken from "The Guardian" 14th Jan 2023.

True enough but in general the typical city centre cyclist in the Netherlands doesn't cycle that way The picture in the article shows all going at what seems like a leisurely pace and notably not a helmet in sight which is why the text further down it that article caught my eye.....

Another, e-bike fire which happened in Cumbria last Sept makes news.

Thanks for those listing guerney, - informative. At my stage of life I don't necessarily read articles in the detail that I used to, but the main thrust of them seemed to concentrate on the 'alternative to lithium' aspect. Did I miss any aspect of the fire risk/volatility of Sodium ion vs...

The child's ebike - given that 14 yrs old is the lower age limit for pedelecs (EPACs), will it only be suitable for riding on private land?

No electricity in front light cable on Kalkhoff Pro Connect with Panasonic 26v motor. Advice?

I'm not famaliar at all with your bike or it's wiring system and from your description I'm not clear if the light is served by one or two wires? If one wire (not likely but..), then there's a return path through the bike frame and maybe when you were originally testing the replacement light...

    Most efficient travel

Joking aside though, the world population is a problem - those not in the consumerist western world, want to be, and so Mother Earth will be bled dry of materials unless something nasty happens to reduce our numbers or expectations. Expectations will only be quashed by the price being...

Another, e-bike fire which happened in Cumbria last Sept makes news.

Thanks, I hadn't spotted that - a greater breakdown of battery fires would be informative. From the journalistic point of view, I suspect E-bike battery fire reports are 'good news/click bait' though.

Looking for social midweek riders in Reading area of Berkshire

Look for local cycling clubs - not all clubs are for the 'road racers' on carbon framed dropped handlebar machines. Cycling UK, and U3A (for those of a certain age) are just some of a number of resources that could offer what you're looking for. Down here we have for instance, Portsmouth CTC...

Another, e-bike fire which happened in Cumbria last Sept makes news.

Sad indeed but the incident needs to be kept in perspective with the number and causes of all UK fires. E-bike battery fires are, according to this very informative link HERE, not mentioned specifically and shows there are many other causes to concern ourselves with first. As has been said...

    Most efficient travel

Now that brings me to a (related) question I've often pondered over and that is, from the e-bike point of view, are cycling at certain speeds more battery efficient than others? So I ride with a TSDZ2 motor (torque sensing) set to cut off at 25kph The battery power used is proportional to my...
