Help! Tongsheng 48V 500W Battery suggestion please 10Ah to 15Ah

I got my 10Ah 36v bottle battery from PSWPower, one year ago - around £130 iirc so a cheap battery and the BMS started playing up after about 3 months use - so a cheap battery but I'm OK with that as (a) I've a workaround for the BMS issue and (b) I'll be building my own when the bottle battery...

    Battery life

Do you know by how much the junction voltage varies by temperature please? My 4 amp charger outputs 41.8v off load and 41.0v when charging and I have at various times considered 'splicing in' a suitably rate diode in series with the charger output but a bitlike @Nealh I not sure I can go with...

Help Please - Identify Battery Connector

Hopefully someone will come along with a direct answer to your question. In the absence of finding a suitable extension cable, you (or someone else) could cut the existing cable and splice in a suitable length and grade of cable between the two cut ends.

    trackers / theft protection

Trackers should be seen as a last ditch effort to keep your bike (as in the locks and other securing paraphernalia have failed at this point). Tracker accuracy will be affected by many factors starting with the design of the device and how many satellites it can see in it's location and...

    Can this battery be revived?

Hi Neal, does what you say above always hold true? I ask as: my bottle battery has a charging port and after a BMS charging problem, I did out of desparation start charging through the discharge port I also reconfigured the wiring for 'discharge byepass mode' as my TSDZ2 controller looks after...

    Can this battery be revived?

I'm suspecting that that last reading of zero volts might be down to not connecting the multimeter to the right point as although I'm far from being as knowledgeable as some on here, surely a duff cell would give some sort of reading? I'd advise you to get a reasonable understanding of the...

Help! Tongsheng tsdz2 sound problem diagnose

Did the replacement come F-O-C from the supplier, and if you did, who was the supplier as a thumbs up on here would be nice. Conversely, if you had to buy it, can I ask where from and the price please?

The 'Enable on startup' might help you out on this one?

BMS - Battery Management System - the electronics board within the battery casing that controls the charging and discharging of the batteries. On my vlcd6 setup, I noticed the other evening in my darkened bike shed, that there was a faint glow on the screen even though I'd powered off from the...

Help! Can I ride e-bikes in heavy rain?

@guern - those 20mm round rocker switches and covers will be ideal as I'm sure the OEM ones are that size - thank you very much for the link  I've changed the switch out for a new one before (due to water ingress) with the aid of a heat gun, soldering iron and needle files.

Help! Can I ride e-bikes in heavy rain?

The contributions in this thread do go to show that with some basic tools and careful observation of potential weakspots, the water resistant integrity of an installation can be improved. On my TSDZ2 mid-mount I have added Red Rubber Grease to the existing motor casing 'O' seal and additional...

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

Thanks @Nealh for the list of changes in v20.1c.2 (and I see there is an 'update 1' to that now). I've never looked into the torque sensor calibration side of life as I've always been happy with the 'out of the box' feel - something else to read up on. I've only ever used power assist mode so...

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

@harrys and @kiwisibk - what version OSF are you both using v20.1c.1 or V20.1c.2? I'm on 20.1c.1 at the mo and am satisfied with it and being a bit old skool, I didn't see the need to go for 20.1c.2 (as in if it ain't broke, then don't fix it) - maybe I should read the release notes for 20.1c.2?

    TSDZ2 Conversion

I can do biscuits too ;) As in you've not ridden a TSDZ2, I've not ridden a BBS01B either, but I was pleased to make the acquantence of someone the other day with said Bafang motor, so once I've bribed him with tea (and cake), I shall be seeking a test ride. My only experience with a Cadence...

    Shorter Cranks

Some years ago I had the rear cranks on our tandem professionally shortened (to 155mm) - I can't remember who I got to do it but iirc I was put onto them by JD Tandems, so maybe give them a ring?

If you were going to buy a bike to convert....

That's a great job @scbk and thanks for posting the pics. my own requirements for a donor bike were less exacting than yours, and having to retire my steel framed (Dawes Super Galaxy) TSDZ2 conversion recently, I found a hardly used Ridgeback Supernova hybrid in my local 'emporium'. The bike...

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

As you say, the OSF does have minor bugs. In the one year I've been running OSF I'd say the advantages of a quieter motor and the flexibility in tailoring the motor response, far outweigh the odd software glitch. Having said that if you are happy with the OEM setup then don't bother with OSF...

Absolutely so (and this guy on YT thinks so too LINK) and folks say that the brass gear is more noisy. If you're a 'low power' rider like me, (250w, 36v riding mostly in ECO) then you'll be wondering whether to be concerned about overheating. To see if my type of riding might lead to a hot...

    TSDZ2 conversion Vs Full e-bike?

@Wheelie - If I have suitable donor bikes I would never consider buying a ready made ebike like those fitted with Shimano Steps, Bosch, Yamaha, Mahle X35 etc etc because: - Putting to one side the 'E' assist side of things, I'd be paying a lot of money for a bike that I may not be comfortable...
