Help! Lightweight e-kit for coaster brake bike - alternate e-bike and 'normal' bike experience.

Conversion of a bike is always a compromise. I think it will be very difficult to achieve what you want. After conversion your bike will be different. I very much enjoy riding my bike, but for sure I wouldn't enjoy it without assistance. I still can have as much work out as I want by simply...

Newbie dipping his toe into the world of Ebikes

Welcome Jedd and congratulations. I am pretty sure you will enjoy your new e-bike as we all do. Don't worry about battery fires. As said above they are extremely rare, but if you want to sleep without worries, then you can charge battery outside and store it outside. That is what I do.

    Eleglide experiences

You kind of contradict yourself: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/eleglide-experiences.46585/post-709541 How your brakes are easy to maintain? I also don't remember doing any maintenance on my hydraulic brakes.

    Folding bikes

It is pretty self explanatory. People buy folders to fold them for whatever reason they want. For easier storage, transportation etc. There are many disadvantages of folding bikes, so option to fold a bike must be important to those who buy them. ...and no... look is not appealing at all. At...

Help! Lightweight e-kit for coaster brake bike - alternate e-bike and 'normal' bike experience.

Laura, I advice against going back and considering Swytch as an option. It is really one of worst choices available out there. Buying e-bike is a lazy option. I don't like business model of market leaders like Bosch, Brose, Shimano etc. They don't make products to last. They don't want...

Help! Lightweight e-kit for coaster brake bike - alternate e-bike and 'normal' bike experience.

I see no reason why Swytch kit might be incompatible with your bike. Having that said I don't think Swytch is a good option at all. Do you find riding your bike safe? I have absolutely zero experience in that matter, but with child seat so high, your bike looks to me very unbalanced. If I were...

Help! Lightweight e-kit for coaster brake bike - alternate e-bike and 'normal' bike experience.

What is your budget? Is starting from scratch with new bike an option? If not, then front hub motor with torque sensor would be best option I think. ...and welcome.

    Another Sur-ron accident.

Perhaps it is part of the problem then? How easy it is to buy.

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Add extra weight of 20kg and kinetic energy almost doubles. And it is only 5mph increase in speed.

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Perfect example how data can be manipulated to give false impression. Somebody might think number of staff has been cut by half over period 2010-2016.

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Risk of hitting pedestrian is relatively low. Speed and increased bike weight (e-bikes can be easily 3 or 4 times heavier than non electric bikes ) mainly affect risk of injury to cyclists. OK... another example, this time when impact energy is directly reflected to cyclists. Imagine hitting...

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Depends what you mean by that. Motor/controller/battery directly affect speed and acceleration. Speed and acceleration affect risk of accident and risk of injury. No Tony. When it comes to risk of injury, there is a massive difference between 15 mph and 20mph. All comes down to energy. As...

    UK suppliers for conversion kits

There are quite a few, but prices are not so attractive. Yose is UK based. It is a Chinese company, but they have warehouse and service in UK.

Heartbroken family pay tribute to teen 'who loved going out with mates' after e-bike crash

Short term memory loss? Already forgotten advice given by yourself on how to derestrict bike and even how to get away with it when stopped by police? All quite effective I must admit. I have better things to do than searching through archives. We both know you did it, so why bother to deny?
