No. It is a lot more personal than that. had the EC DELIBERATELY ignored the NI Protocol , we, and I speak for a majority in the RoI would have been very angry and feel betrayed. Therefore we did need to get to the bottom of it. to us this is not just a few snide headlines.

Read more carefully the interview with McGuiness. Certainly the EC..whether Ursula or someone else ,I don't know, were extremely anxious to track product going into the UK. At worst they omitted to realise where the UK / EU border actually was. And yes that was a mistake..and when pointed...

The Valvena vaccine is a French design and will be manufactured in Scotland. It is being manufactured on the presumption that it will be successful in trials yet to be completed. This is exactly the situation that the EU understood would be the situation with the AZ plant in Belgium. But when...

Nor in the instance of the EC spat on Friday was I . Follow the sequence.... I always said the story was real ..but not true. The ECs mistake was that it would be mis interpreted, and that was not realised at the time.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No the EC did not threaten to trigger Article 16. Nor did it trigger Article 16. What it did do was initiated a proposal which WOULD BE POSSIBLY INTERPRETED as potentially doing that, . When it was brought to their attention that this was a possible interpretation or consequence, they...

And while I am writing I wish you all welcome to Spring in the Celtic Calendar. .. . The first day of February is the pagan feast of Imbolic , now associated with St. Bridgit and is the reverse of Halloween or Samhain as it celebrates new life. Bridgit represents fertility and the new...

... a response to last Friday's crisis in EU / UK relationships .taken from the Irish Independent Triggering Article 16 was intended to be a “market information gathering tool” but ended up being a mistake that will have “very serious consequences”, EU Commissioner for Finance Máiréad...

Zlatan. I am not sure who in the UK was promoting the Herd Immunity concept. But I am very sure where I was and when I heard about it. Ireland had just announced that the Italy Ireland Rugby match was being cancelled, in March of last year and I was in the Sony Shop in Belfast having a...

Getting even an ineffective vaccine is much better than none. And all the vaccines are much better than ineffective. So I fully agree, we should all be on message that vaccination works. My constant message is that if the product designer designs something has done the experiments ,I see them...

Yes.. a difficult calculation. Especially if the crowd dynamics are included. If the front line essential working staff ,are protected, as full as possible, it has knock-on effects for the functioning of society, whereas if they are only partially protected, the consequences are much worse...

My preference would be to go with the Science , and innoculate people as per the designated schedule. It would be better having 20% fully safe than 40% possibly safe. Now if it means that a new double dose cycle given in say June and July , making three doses in total , and the production...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

How many times must it be repeated that when the EU or EC makes decisions it puts them in writing. ? There was NO decision by the EC/EU to break the NI Protocol. At worst there was clumsy wording , which was interpreted by this Twitter writer as meaning an intention to break the NI Protocol ...

..nope the Oxford Jenner vaccine was an Irish invention, in that the architect of its design and Director of the program is a Dubliner. But why let facts interrupt a strong narrative?. "The U.K. is doing well with it’s vaccination efforts and it’s the only way out of this hole.".. is the key...

I have made no adverse comment at any stage against ANY of the vaccines. The only comment I every made is regarding their performance is in recommending adhering to the researchers published guidelines . Now a gracious apology would be acceptable, but I do expect I should not hold my breath...

Agreed.. my take exactly. You probably did not get to see the text appended to S. Coveneys twitter , labelled EuCom, where it stated unequivocally that the NI Protocol was not threatened.
