I agree, and we do pay well, you would be surprised. We needed an apprentice to work with my three tech guys and learn the industry. I felt £10.00 per hour was good.

I have tried to hire people in the UK to build bikes and cannot find anyone. I was offering £18,000 for an apprentice bike builder but didn't get one response.
More importantly, I have known and trusted the Chinese guys I am working with for 12 years. We have built the business together, they...
Hi Dave, Kudos Dave is correct, it came from an article in Bike Europe. The figure was based on a calculation that took into account the prices of bikes and bike manufacture in Switzerland, the range of ADT they were discussing was between just over 190% and nearly 400%.
I don't want to be over...
I agree with your sentiments Col, but the Brompton could just as easily be made in Tunisia or Romania for the same price if not lower than in China. It's widely agreed that the 48.5% ADT on push bikes out of China hasn't made a blind bit of difference to the numbers of bikes coming in to Europe...
Thanks Nemesis. This unfounded attack on Bafang is one of the reasons it is evident that Bosch are in some way behind or at least backing the ADT move by the EBMA.

Are saying that we don't need to worry about parts being effected by the anti dumping tariffs to stop circumvention?
That would be excellent news, I must have been mistaken. It's just that LEVA believe they will be.
Only time will tell, but I have to say I am a little more pessimistic than you...
Thanks Steve,
I will give them a call.
Re "reprogramming" on bike it's not that sophisticated, just a few buttons to push, or do you mean our reprogramming the bikes here on in the factory?
Atb David
Hi Col, I could be mistaken. It's what I have understood from Bafang, they are very much behind the movement to stop this current case of protectionism. They have also said that they are already considering opening a factory in Europe if the protectionism measures prevail, why would they do...
Hi Steve, thanks for investing in a Wisper, I appreciate the business. May I ask which area you live in and whom you bought your bike through?
We may be able to assist by opening a dealer more local to you.
All the best, David
That's correct Dave, the bike needs to be 59% European made to build here. We will bring batteries in from a Polish supplier we've been dealing with for a few years now and that way we may be in a position to comply. Electric bike buildiers in China are currently inundated with orders, hoping to...
Hi Tom, unfortunately the measures will probably be applied to bicycle parts out of China too. This is the main reason we are fighting so hard.
All the best, David
You would be surprised, we can buy at about the same price as in China. The big issue will be the anti circumvention measures that will no doubt follow swiftly.
Just Posted on European Council Website.
On 4 December, the Council approved new rules to help protect the EU against unfair trade practices. They will enter into force by 20 December.
This new anti-dumping methodology will identify and redress cases where prices of imported products are...
