Just checked one here and the non drive side does sit much closer to the cover. Because of the 'Air Inlet' bulge. My one here sits approx 3mm away, so judging by the angle of the photo - About the same.

On second thought. It can't be much far over if the axle has shifted as the sprocket would be too close to the inside of the drive side cover when pushed back.. Could be a bent crank. Sp00k does your bike feel wonky? ;)

Could be but the Haibike belly plate does a pretty good job of holding this in place, even if the 3 self tappers are missing.

You can simply order a Bosch Intuvia Performance display here and plug it straight on.. It will do everything you are looking to achieve. FYI: The Active display won't work, and the Classic+ in not upwards compatible. So make sure to get the one in the link above.
