    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

They both work. Hub drive cheaper but slightly limited. Cd more expensive but you can get better performance just playing with the LCD.

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect S10 (2012)

It's the Panasonic drive. One of the best ever. The battery has a sleep mode but four years of sleep...... I think it's 26 volt model so a little les powerful than 36 but still a great machine. It's the one kalhoff built their great reputation on before it was stuffed by the new carp bike:(

    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

A spinner is someone who spins he pedals quickly to get up hills. And keeps on driving the pedals at over 120rpm. I'm a slogger or pusher who grunts and forces the bike up n a hgher gear. Turning the pedals slowly, up to 100 rpm but in high gear. Direct drive hubs are cheaper and reliable but...

Hi. I cycle to work most days and also cycle at work.

Enjoy the ride. They don't tend to have the top end of a normal bike but low down grunt makes it easy to keep a nice average speed. For me it's about 2-3 mph faster on average with much less effort. On really trying I can get 4 mph more from electric.

    Ah OR Wh

Ah you did the calculation on full charge batteries. 42 volts. It starts at 42 then falls to 32 at dead flat, so using 32 *6 ah it's a 190 watt hour battery! Given the need for some leeway use low voltage for the calculation and your 12S is a 38.4 volt 6 amp battery. It is cutting it fine, no...

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

Its easy to take off, but wielding alloy is an art. Doing it on lightweight butted tubes of unknown composition. That's getting risky. Probably easier to get your own frame made.

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

No not yet. Tempted to get an old Panasonic CD set up and fit that to my bike, a real bodge job that would be. Non torque there is the Gng kit cheaper than BBS and similar power.

250 watt is it a myth?

You can alter the max speed on any of the BBS mid drives in the control panel.

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

I LOVE the feel of torque drive it's just like having bionic legs. Until I can fit a decent torque drive to my bike I have been making do with a BBS01, that also helps but the power is either on or off, no graded delivery. Good enough for a budget, great if you have issues! But not the...

250 watt is it a myth?

Batteries and motors are quite mature now. It's only the control side that's coming on. Electric bikes can do over 300km either as range or speed. Legal bikes have had the limits pushed in what matches the law. Then it's just the most important point, test ride and test ride again.

Best kit for Marin Muirwoods 26"

Ignore the power ratings ask about torque, amps and volts. The 250 watt is a mith currently with many legal 250 watt bikes having peak powers of over 750 watts.:D The 250 watt geared front would probably beat  the 500 watt direct drive system, lots of odd reasons for that.
