    Range extenders

If it is just 5 to 10 miles is it worth the hassle, just bite the bullet and pedal home and "learn" the bike's limits? Pre the "lockdown" I a very few times took the charger so we could top up the wife's e-bike at a coffee shop break; in reality the need to use it was very rare.

Bosch Purion display - not waterproof?

Not at all Andy, I was neither addressing your comment, nor had I missed the fact you have left it ventilated, but answering the OP. Condensation as commented on has to be expected, so I suspect if referred back to Bosch IMO there would be zero chance of a warranty claim, though they might...

Bosch Purion display - not waterproof?

Is not the issue simply condensation forming when the thing is chilled by the colder rain, rather than any inference about required to be "watertight"? Complete sealing has its failings too, and needs to be done perfectly and reliably plus needs to be sealed with perfectly dried air or more...

    Rohloff or not to Rohloff.

Plus it does not run askew twisting under load to a side or be forced to move off the sprokets and can be shielded from dirt and water. But, still I much rather the Gates Carbon belt drive on several counts, not least that compasionate bit of compliance it adds into the drive train, good news...

retro fitting throttle to new e bikes

Do any of these feature what I would call a "walk" function that can be used to lift the speed up from zero to the 6 km/h allowed, or then again is that in someway inhibited if the system senses the rider is actually onboard?

    Rear rack bag

My Ortieb Classics, after more than three years, still look nearly as good as new.

Help! Looking for a <£2k commuting ebike which will take a child seat

Is that issue you highlight with Bosch CD motors in reality any different with the other brands, Shimano, Yamaha, Impulse, Bafang etc etc?

    A really beautiful marriage though.

    What's the best Map App

I believe Local Authorities refer to the roadside walkways as "footways" here, the other side of the pond, it is "sidewalks", these terms clear differentiate them from the "footpath" a right of way. Whilst unless dedicated as a shared way for pedestrians and cyclist, then cycling is...

    What's the best Map App

Part of your quest can be achieved with the App Maps ME, there is an Apple version. Big pluses are it is free, and map sections can be installed on the phone/tablet. It can create a "cycle" specific route as one option, but you can't get involved in that as in planning a loop [ or I have not...

    Electric bike vs. folder

The Tern image shows a belt, most probably the Gates Carbon which features a central guide making it very unlikely to come adrift, or oil up trousers/legs, but for safety IMO still needs some guarding.

    Gearing

They are IMO geared to suit the European pedelec market, which by law limits the assisted speed to 25 kph. For those wishing to exceed that speed, then during that time they will not be assisted, the assistance there being simply a hill climbing aid though only where the speed is below the legal...

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

Not necessarily, in that the sprocket is wider so has lower surface pressure, throughout its life runs with a healthy roller chain rather than with an abused one, and does not have its tooth flanks rubbed by the chain being forced on and off its sides. Whatever undoubted attributes a deraileur...

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

I would suggest the chain wear could be very different indeed between a single speed drive to a hub gear and a multi speed deraileur, as several factors are markedly different. A single speed drive will use an eight of an inch roller chain, if not heavier duty, even just a 7 speed deraileur, a...

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

I would hang in a bit longer to see how things unfold facilitating a test ride, of importantly several, they do feel different.

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

Not universally, there is the Riese & Müller Supercharger GX Rohloff, but of course not a budget bike by any means. R & M Super Charger Rohloff Rohloff discussion.

Any thoughts on fitting a Bafang mid to one of these (Electra cruiser)

Probably as the OP was asking for a mid drive bike, not rear hub motor?

Belt or chain, derailleur or hub?

It is a 2015 MY Kalkhoff Agattu Premium Impulse 8, in the small frame size, step through with the 26" wheel option, though purchased new as obsolete stock in early 2017. Nearly identical to : US version Agattu 8 The UK version has different front & rear light units, the Gates belt and...

    Ladies first electric bike

Just checked, it is not corrected yet on the online downloadable PDF, on the Ramblatta's Webpage. Is it one of those things that gets reset over night? Very good feature you have there to include this on product sheets, IMO.

    Ladies first electric bike

You have another typo on page 14 of the Rambletta Manual, Essential maintenance, saying the "Faro", is a low maintenance bike.
