So, while I wait for stuff to arrive from China, I have been doing some thinking. The battery I've ordered comes with a handlebar bag which is OK but I've been thinking of other options. Peter has used these two threaded holes on the headtube to mount batteries, so I thought I'd give that...

10.000 miles is very impressive, incredible really. When it comes to raising handlebars, I have learnt that if one buys a new pair of forks, DO NOT CUT THE STEERER TUBE, just invest in some spacers. You can cut the steerer tube later later if you want to lower your handlebars, but it's much...

Thank you, I have work to do with files and nuts etc. I'm sure I'll get there in the end.

Good stuff, thanks. The first thing I did when I went to buy the bike was try a magnet on the forks.

OK, so I've just checked my washer collection, believe it or not I have 12x19 but no 12x20. I am struggling to find any on eBay. Do you have any links? Also, I filed my drop-outs like I normally do. Flat file for the sides, rat tail for the bottom, but I think I need a fatter rat tail file.

Also, do I need a torque arm on steel forks and and a 250w motor?

Wow, that's good advice. Thank you. I shall make this my top priority. The last thing I want to do is plant my face into a tarmac surface.

So another day in paradise, now I've proved that the motor works, it's time to strip all the electrics off the Carrera (bar the motor) and put them back on my Trek. First thing I did was check the front disc which I used in haste yesterday from my box of bits and it was causing me problems. It...

I don't know what you did for a living before you retired but you should have worked as chief mechanic for a professional cycling team or worked in R&D for a quality ebike company. Now you use all your knowledge to give advice to idiots on an obscure eBike forum. I include myself as one of those...

Indeed you can. However I don't own a Bafang, so I prefer to make my own labels (saneagle gave me some help with that). Here's the label I made for my MXUS on my other bike:

To add to the above, I just read the email from Yose Power (Joey) again and his actual words were, "I think it will fit" (the 2.0 tyre). To be fair to Yose Power, their service has been very good.

Neither did I, Neither would Plod. Also no mention of maximum assist speed, which is a legal requirement on labelling of eBikes and conversion kits.

Emm...to be fair, it felt exactly the same as it does on my Trek. I've never known anything different to compare it with. I will be able to answer this question better when I get my KT kit. And half the time I was riding it, I was thinking of other things. I was getting an annoying tick from...

OK so a new day, the sun is shining, time to open the Yosepower box. These were the contents - minus the motor wheel and the 9 pin extension cable, the reasons for which shall become apparent shortly. Most of these parts I have no actual use for, I don't use throttles or brake sensors plus I...

Yes, I guess. I can always sell some bits on eBay or keep them in my shed with my huge box-o-bike-bits.

Not sure if serious. That's the Yosepower kit which was posted in the UK I believe. Don't even want to open it now until my TBK stuff arrives.

You are a star, I was only kidding, I'm sure it will all work out great. But be warned, I'm going to be coming to YOU for advice on how to set up all the settings for the KT system. They might as well be written in Hieroglyphics as far as I'm concerned.

In other news, my "guaranteed to rust" magnet thing came a day early, so I've got that going for me.
