Help! New e-bike buyer here - what annoyances should I expect?

If you buy a ready made eBike make sure there is a durable label on the bike with the following information: Manufacturer's Name Max Power 250W Battery max 48V Max assisted speed 15.5MPH or 25KPH The police have been known to seize legal bikes without this information displayed on the bike...

I clicked on that Marketplace link, the bike is hardly used and he's currently asking for £190. I saw this on the same page, it would be a good purchase for Soundwave:

What shifter to match bike derailleur

Well if you get one, buy one with the cable already fitted, it makes the job even simpler.

What shifter to match bike derailleur

I also have the Shimano 8 speed Acera derailleur. I also am a fan of Shimano Revoshifters. I have the Shimano Tourney SL-RS45-8R - 8 Speed Revo Twist Shifter and it works flawlessly with my Acera derailleur and it was a doddle to set up, very simple to operate and it also has a nice uncluttered...

I am not a Facebook user but I set up an account with a fake name, just for browsing Marketplace. Also, if there's nothing wrong with that bike, I think you should get it for £200 :D...you could even knock him down a little bit, probably.

    Brake hose

Shimano also make the BH90 hose which has a slightly smaller internal diameter. Easily identified by the fact that the BH90 uses a silver coloured barb and the BH59 uses a brass coloured barb. Olives are the same size for both.

    Brake hose

Do you mean the Wisper 905 Torque Crossbar? This bike came with cable operated disk brakes. Has yours been upgraded to hydraulic brakes? If so do you know which brakes?

Best e-bike for a child seat (up to 25kg)

Yeah, I edited that out. I didn't realise the bike had a 750w motor.

    Step through bike for <£1500

Yeah, agreed. I'd recommend the 15AH version for £999, but I'd use some of the money saved to get Woosh to fit hydraulic brakes.

    Folding bike for weekend cruising

And a thing of beauty it is too. But £3.5k? Maybe if I win the Euromillions. Also, they don't appear to sell spare batteries on their website. I think I'd rather get Peter.Bridge to build me one of his look-a-like Carrera specials for about 700 quid. And he'd probably do it for free, being...

A folder it is then. To get round the large battery problem, you could always get a bike (or kit) with two batteries and carry the spare in a backpack/rack.

    Folding bike for weekend cruising

Where will you be keeping the bike at home? Like saneagle says, a flattened regular bike can take up less space than a folding bike (I have folding pedals and just use an allen key to loosen the stem).
