    Another cyclist death this morning.

OK devils advocate time. So cycling on the footpath is illegal, but according to Eddieo it's fine and not that much of an issue. This is backed up by Flecc's post stating that it can be dealt with by way of a FPN but that's rare, unless you're causing a nuisance. Also the Police don't seem...

    Another cyclist death this morning.

You're wrong - anything that says "YOU MUST" in the highway code is law - and will have that section annotated with the specific statute that applies to that statement. Anything that states "YOU SHOULD" is a guide and isn't law, but you can be prosecuted under another section - i.e. carelss...

    Road Safety Changes Poll

As long as it doesn't kick in when I'm doing 120mph in the wet at Oulton Park it gets the thumbs up from me. Who would pay for such a system to be retro fitted to vehicles though?

    Another cyclist death this morning.

It's ******. Highway code:- No exceptions listed. You are however free to dismount and walk your cycle along the footpath* *Please note though that some local councils (via byelaw amendments) do not allow even wheeling a cycle along a footpath although these "footpaths" are normally those...

    Road Safety Changes Poll

Yup - 20% for me with a further 10% for my club membership. I did like what my "assessor" said when we were out in my Westfield one nice sunny Sunday afternoon - we were following a bumbling old biddy at 30mph on an NSL road and I pulled out at a safe place to overtake and he shouted "just...

Too many criminals on our roads

Beware that most of that "user generated footage" was actually professionally created for a courier race through London - not exactly representative of the general cycling population. BBC1's War on Britain's Roads doc may breach BBC editorial guidelines | Bicycle Business | BikeBiz Thanks...

    winter riding

Neoshell is now the waterproof/breathable fabric of choice. I used to be able to build up a sweat in my Gore Bike wear goretex jack. Now I have a Marmot Zion neoshell jacket that damp feeling is a thing of the past. I can't see me buying another jacket - ever.

Nope - still had people pull out on me with my bright lights. They look but don't see.

Bosch to the left of them, Bosch to the right....

They may have the cash and expertise but where is the market? No one in the UK really care about cycling, apart from an enlightened minority. Cycling is still seen as a poor mans transport and until that changes (and the infrstructure), sales of any kind of bike, let alone ebikes, will pale in...

Laser projector bike light for the front

I think the point Scimitar was making that even if you look like a car you'll still get pulled out on. After all, most car-on-car accidents happen in the dark winter evenings.

    Cycle Lanes

Blackpool council have just put up some signs stating "Please be aware of cyclists when crossing the promenade. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times" - much to the chagrin of some of the commentators in the local paper :-) I'll try to get a photo when I'm next out. You kid but I purposely...

    20mph-zone-but-police-wont-enforce-it-

Yeah - had 20mph zones in residential areas in Lancashire for a while now (though not Blackpool, as it's a seperate Unitary authority, thank God!). Police have stated numerous times they'll only actively enforce it in response to residents compliants - which they say they aren't getting that...

eZee v Bafang Motor Performance Comparison

So what is the "equivalent" Bafang motor? I'd have thought a BPM, rather than a little QWSXH or similar.

simple (?) way to switch between 15mph max and deristricted

I've used an RFID transponder from a car immobilser on mine - it's restricted to 250watts nominal / 16mph unless I'm within 1m of the bike. It also stops me forgetting my house keys when I set off for work! For obvious reasons I'm not going to post on a public forum as to how to wire...

    waterproof boots.

Normally I'd say no and my Goretex stuff has all been brought at really good prices (see trousers for example) but after my friends raving about Neoshell I thought I'd give it a go and spend some of my bonus on one. I can honestly say the Neoshell jacket has been worth every penny. No...

    waterproof boots.

I have Merell Goretex boots, Goretex trousers, Gore Bike wear Cross II gloves and a Marmot Zion Neoshell jacket. No matter the weather I'm always bone dry and nice and warm. Condensation builds up a little on the trousers but never in the jacket. Boots were £35 second hand, trousers were ex...

What is in that subconscious mind of yours?

I'm not sure what you're asking but I've been running a bike with 750 to 1000 watts and 25mph for over a year now.
