    Batteries too expensive!!

I can foresee a game changer on the horizon as Tesla ramps up production of Li cell, and move away from producing the Panasonic 18650 to the Panasonic 2170. What the Panasonic 2170 promises is more density per cell, not just by volume, but also by chemistry and of course as already stated by...

Hub verses External gears for mid drive

All the CD ebikes that I Have come across using the Nexus Alfine IGH have been using the lower torque motors, say 45nm etc, so there must be a reason for that. In fact the Bosch website, states that there lower torque motors are suitable for IGH's. Ebikes using the Rohloff or Nuvinci IGH often...

Prototype / ex demo / ex display, end of season sale.

yep give it time, I am sure one of the big boys will be adding the Bafang Max Drive to there range, the marketing folk like nothing better than price points so that they can tap into any demographic. I have said it before, but Ebikes running the Bafang Max Drive, will become the Skoda brand of...

    Bafang Max Drive

Yep David, and I am quite happy to be patient, and for now I just have to wait for the right Bafang Max Drive bike to come along, which can accomadate my Rohloff Hub. No problem with Speed on the Bafang as I believe the cut of can be upped from 15mph to 25mph quite easily, by the display...

    Bafang Max Drive

Thanks David, that R&M Rohloff HS Charger is certainly the business, from what I can gather these "S" Pedelecs in Germany, do not require you to were a full face type motorcycle helmet, although there is a range of regular style bicycle helmets that are specific for use with "S" Pedelecs. Also...

    Bafang Max Drive

Yep I notice that R&M do HS 45kph version of the Charger with the Nuvinci 360, not sure if they do that model with a Rohloff though. The U.K. Really needs to get it's act together and come up with a specific classification for "S" Pedelecs instead of labelling them as Mopeds etc.

    Bafang Max Drive

No David, Sons Haibike was peddle power only, although he sent me an image of a KTM full sus with Bosch CX motor that he has just built up for a customer, around £3k's worth I think he said.

    Bafang Max Drive

I do like that raised chain stay design on the R&M charger, very clever that bit of design. R&M have taken the design of the ebike to the next level, and I commend them for the extensive use of the Rohloff and Nuvinci 360. But when you look at the composite main parts, battery, motor, IGH and...

    Bafang Max Drive

Yep RobF it looks like R&M have upped there game, by adding Sliding Drop-Out's. It has been a while since I last looked at there website, and back then the only model with a Rohloff was the "Delite" which did on the old model use a Rohloff mech hanger Chain Tensioner, but even that model now...

    Bafang Max Drive

Don't get me wrong, and I have no problem with using a Chain Tensioner, but both my IGH bikes don't have one. The bike with a SRAM Spectro P7 uses a Dennis Bushnell EBB, and my Rohloff bike uses Sliding Drop Out's. Both systems are the best way of adjusting chain tension, and at the same time...

    Bafang Max Drive

Yep tommie, if a Chain Tensioner is good enough for the £6000! Riese & Muller Bosch ebike that is Rohloff equipped, then it will be good enough for me on a Bafang Max Drive ebike. Such a pity though though that Riese & Muller could not do the job properly, especially for that kind of money.

    Bafang Max Drive

Thanks for the heads up Zack, all I need to find now is Bafang Max Drive bike, that has Sliding Drop Outs, so that I can ditch the derailure and drop my Rohloff in. In the ideal world I would need the Bafang to give a Chain Line of 54mm (58mm optional) otherwise I may have to use a Chain...

    Bafang Max Drive

Yep tommie, seems that a few ebike manufacturers have already tooled up, for the Bafang Max Drive, none of the big names though, as Bosch and Yamaha seem to have got the big names already. I did come across Maxwell of Australia, who list a Bafang Max Drive bike, although I guess they are just...

    Bafang Max Drive

I would have thought that a manufacturer could just buy in the Bafang Max Drive motor unit, and build into a UK or EU produced Max Drive specific frame.

    Bafang Max Drive

Yep, Bafang Max Drive coupled to either Rohloff or Nuvinci 360 IGH would result in a dream machine, for not to much money me thinks!

    Bafang Max Drive

well I am new to all this ebike stuff, and still getting around on pedal power only. But having come across the Bafang Max Drive, I am convinced that this is the way forward. Been having a look at the YouTube stuff, and all is looking good, just a case of waiting now for UK dealers to grasp...

Is it worth trying hybrid tyres.

For summer I use Verdestien "S Licks" 1.3" and winter change to Continental Travel Contact 1.75" for my rigid 26" wheel MTB. Although I think the Verdestien "S Licks" went EOL a few years back, as I bought a bunch of them back in 2008. Of course I am still on pedal power only, having not yet...

    Help?

I am waiting to see more bikes comming through with the Bafang Max Drive, and I see the system as being the Skoda of Ebikes, and will definatley give the Bosch and Yamaha CD bikes a run for there money. It's early days yet for the Bafang Max Drive, but if we start to see bikes like the Volton...

    Drive Chain Advances

Had a test ride on a Shaft Drive Hard Tail at Harrogate back in 1999. It worked fine, but I just thought it was adding more complications compared to the simplicity of a chain. Likewise Gates Belt Drives, requires the bike frame to split at the chainstay. I run the Rohloff SLT-99 chain 8...

    Need a new printer !

Yep, eHomer, as for the ink pad on the ET-2550 it works a little different to the Epson photo printers, in respect that very little waste ink is collected, to long winded for me to explain here, but trust me I know about these things. What you have to bear in mind is that the print heads are...
