    New battery purchase questions...

I've just ordered the 36v15ah version of the same battery (literally 3 hrs ago) so we'll see how long it takes to arrive - I've been advised by other members to expect 2-6weeks delivery time though. You must be aware, despite what the specs say on the site, that these are true 1c batteries -...

Hehe - do you have a good dentist?

Why do people think 25km/h speed limitation is safe?

I have a full sus mtb with Deore 2011 hydraulic disc brakes front and rear - 180mm disc front, 160mm discs rear - they are by far the best brakes I've ever had on a bike in all categories - power, feel, modulation and effectiveness in all weathers. I have a Trek FX 7.5 with avid v-brakes and...

Any sneak previews on Cytronex kit?

I gave up waiting for their kit so decided to build my own lightweight:- http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/9442-new-build.html

    Replacement 36V 16AH LiFePO4 batteries?

No reason why it couldn't replace it, bearing in mind it will be 1.5x the size and weight of your existing battery though. This would be nearer the size/weight of you existing battery:- 36V15Ah Li-Ion Alloy Shell EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY

    OXYGEN kit- exclusive previews

Tongxin hub? I'd give my left ******* to be able to buy that battery stand alone.

    Battery failure question

Yup - it's NiCoMn lipo - not lipo as in RC model lipo though.

The Family man and E biking

I don't really need to find it from anywhere - after bills, mortgage, food etc all paid for I have around £1500 cash spare a month. If it has to come from somewhere then I'm probably saving around £100 less a month than this time two years ago.

    New build.

Yay - cyeclesheme voucher arrived Wednesday so finsihed work early and picked up this from the LBS:- As you can see, I've already fitted the accessories :-) Lyen controller, thumb throttle and cruise control also arrived a while ago:- Nice small controller. Need to have a think about...

    You vs the average cyclist

Can I keep up with the average cyclist? Depends if that average cyclist is a roadie of cummuter. Roadie - no. Commuter -yes. Electric bikes in this country aren't really about going quicker but rather about extending your range, smoothing out hills, defeating headwinds and expending less...

    New build.

haha - though you'd be on here from the desc on the ebay acution :-) It's not going on a bike with disc brakes - aside from the wheel dishing it doesn't really matter ;-) Nice to know it could transfer over to a bike with disc brakes in the future though.

    New build.

Doh! BMSbattery no longer list the Lipo shrinkwrap batteries. Going to go for four 6s 5000mah Turnigy packs from HobbyKing plus associated hobby chargers (a pair). Lets see what the Tongxins are like with 44v :-)

Too heavy for a 700c wheel?

No, you're not too heavy. Sounds like something is wrong with the wheel - check inside it for sharp edges and ensure you have high pressure rim tape - not the cheap rubber rubbish that comes with the majority of bikes.

    New build.

Nope - a sensorless will work off a throttle like any other sensorless hub. It's better/smoother if the hub is already rotating though if sensorless but as it's a Tongxin hub I don't intend to use the throttle from a standing start anyhow.

    New build.

Ok, so I've aquired a Trek FX 7.5 on the cycle2work scheme and in a bid to encourage me to cylce to work more (9 miles each way) I've been researching electric kits to do this bike justice. This is what I've ordered:- Tongxin 190rpm hub with disc mount. Lyen mini monster controller...

    LifePo4 battery usage

Thatnks very much for the info Frank. looks like that's my budget, lighweight and discrete build finalised then! Roll on payday!

    LifePo4 battery usage

It says a charger is included. I don't think the pack I linked is the stuff they use in RC Lipos - it's really only rated at 1c discharge and the cheapest RC lipos are rated 15c (I was thinking og using two 6s 8000mah lipos as wel - swings and roundabouts atm). The BMS battery I linked...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

Simple question, possibly complicated answer. If I have a controller that is limited to 15a, would it be limited to 15 regardless ofthe voltage - i.e. wuld it still be limited to 15a irrespective of whether I used a 36v or 48v battery (assuming the controller can take a 48v battery). If...

    LifePo4 battery usage

I was looking at 36V 15Ah Li-Ion Shrink Tube EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY Should fit this with a little persuasion. Bit concerned about the effects of bulk charging a NiCoMn pack all the time.
