you want a motor with a gearbox in it?

I'm not being critical, just genuinely curious about the choice. :)

I wonder why they opted for what looks like a square taper bottom bracket design.

Sorry to hear that Georgehenry. Sadly cycle does the hamstrings and quads no favours at all really. My quads are very weak, and hamstrings very tight. Kangoo jumps is working brilliantly for me, as is yoga, but I certainly look stupid at the end of the Kangoo jumps class when all of the girls...

Now that was the toughest 36 miles that I have ridden for a very long time! Conditions were perfect for the first 15 miles or so, with frozen ground, but thawing made conditions less than pleasant to ride in. I had to cut the ride short, as the non original equipment Rockshox Reverb dropper post...

Not with those looks. That is one ugly bike.

I give credit to my twice weekly Kangoo Jumps class. :) Which reminds me, someone told me a few days ago as I left the class, that it was cheating! I didn't get a chance to ask them what it was that I was cheating at, but it brought instant flash backs to riding an ebike and having the same...

The sweet spot for the eMTB seems to be 16psi in the rear and 14psi in the front. Oddly though, on my analogue MTB plus size bike, I run 18psi rear and 16psi front. I'd have thought it the other way around given the weight difference, but for some weird reason, that is what works the best in...

    Electrical Ground

I've just remembered another. When I was very little kid, I washed my cuddly toy, and put it straight onto one of those bar heaters. Apparently I got thrown across the room. Whether it is true or not I have no idea, as I was too young., but I guess that it is the sort of daft thing that I might...

    Electrical Ground

Sadly there have been several more. Going back to 1985 when I was a Linesman's mate on Seeboard, I clearly recall several reported deaths. Very sad. Weirdly, I have only seen this thread today, but was thinking about this very subject just yesterday. Once again I was taken back to 1985, when I...

To be honest, I don't have any interest in dh bike tests or riding, so let that one pass me by and didn't watch it. :) In reality the whole channel is as dull as dish water, especially as it is just going be Specialized FS every week, with a liberal smattering of WD40 sprayed about to top...

Does this guy have a point? It has me wondering... If the bike has a throttle then it is being mechanically propelled, but if it is being pedalled, albeit it with assist, then it isn't, as it the legs are providing the propulsion? The first part of the rant is pretty good though. :D

    Really nice home-built electric bike

What a brilliantly executed build. :) I've long had a soft spot for this style of bike, and actually think that that having a crank drive fitted, works very well aesthetically. The empty void left on some other builds, when a bub drive motor has been used, has somehow always spoilt them for me...

Spare Battery.... expensive luxury, or twice the fun.

Same as that in both respects. From carrying plenty of kit, to just going out exploring. :)

Spare Battery.... expensive luxury, or twice the fun.

But you could counter that by saying why make the bike even more cumbersome, heavy and awkward, especially when you have to negotiate over obstacles. I'd sooner continue to carry a spare battery in my back pack, than have the extra weight added to an already heavy bike. To the OP. I generally...
