    Anorexic in recovery :)

You need somewhere quiet to practice, I've been riding bikes since a very young un, so riding comes easily. Is this the bike? http://www.sportsdirect.com/e-co-electric-bike-933004 An elderly friend had a folding e-bike and when he set off on a slight incline gravity took him to one side before...

    Anorexic in recovery :)

Welcome, good luck with your recovery. An electric bike should be perfect because it takes so little effort to make progress, I can ride miles on mine when I wouldn't have the energy to walk down the road. The trick to getting out is to not have a plan of where you're going to go, just go out...

    Road legal 1000W electric scooter

A skip bike then, especially if you have to leave locked up on the street somewhere.

    Road legal 1000W electric scooter

I thought it was a joke at first  what's the elevation profile like on these 3.5 miles? if pretty flat isn't that a doddle on any bike, I'm guessing there's busy traffic too?

Sorry it was tongue in cheek, little hills are still hills especially if you're not fit.

One reason I don't like cycle paths

There's a very wide stretch of road near me about 6 miles long, the council have painted a white line on to make a cycle lane, now because traffic hardly ever drives on it, it is strewn with debris, so at times I ride just outside the line, you then get drivers honking at you and almost trying...

    "Cheating"

My bike is nothing like as light, more around 10kg. on that segment I imagine your e-bike would be fastest for you, unless of course you can ride it above 16 mph unassisted. It sounds like your e-bike isn't very good.

One reason I don't like cycle paths

Clearly this driver thinks this cyclist should be on the cycle path. One of the closest misses I've seen. www.youtube.com/watch?list=UUSJYSGaIQLBKj5U_KYAbrrA&v=XlHQXLI8iiM#t=82

    "Cheating"

Here's a very good illustration of just how much cheating is going on on an e-bike. On the segment below I'm in 1419th place on a fairly light racing bike with me trying my very best. On my e-bike I've managed to get 1st place KOM beating Rapha condor JLT racing cycling Richard Handley by a...

    Derestricted Haibike Review For Cyclists

As long as you have no hills to tackle and don't go above tour, even then it would be touch and go with 800 w/h.

I just came to post a link to the video too. Some interesting riding going on there, certainly not for me that sort of thing. www.flickr.com/photos/jackhandy/12969991993/in/photostream/

If you make lycra look silly perhaps you'd better refrain from wearing it :p

    Kalkhoff 2014 e-bikes

The beauty of an e-bike is that you can choose to go very fast if you so desire. I did an unpowered ride on an old training bike to see how I'm doing, it was slow and hard work on the hills, but not so bad on the flat and downhill. It made me realise that I'm still faster using only eco and tour...
