Will it be marked 350w or 250w? As wattage wise it would be within the range of current 250W hubs.

Kudosdave, are the bpm motors much more powerful than the Ezee? If not a Tonaro crank drive will out climb them with an 86 kg rider, this is not using much rider input which is the only real way to compare motors ability anyway. If you can pedal with a decent output the hub would climb most...

    Hi from clanky

Your budget would allow buying a complete bike, an extra 49 pound would allow a mid drive bike, Woosh and if you check some of the advertisers there would be plenty of others. I live in Australia so will allow others to suggest UK sellers of kits etc. if you want to get a start have a look at...

Most cost effective 12v highest a/h lithium battery setup.

I had one on a canoe years ago, I put an extra cell on mine from 12 to 14v and it made a lot of difference to top speed and never caused a problem.

Is it road-legal to restrict a 500W motor?

It looks like a direct drive which means as an off roader on steep hills it wont be great as it will require a decent speed not to over heat and to provide decent power, so not good for steep technical stuff, it will also be heavy.

^^ My first thought was one of these strapped to a rear rack. Otherwise a child trailer that can be zipped close, animals can see out but not get out, our local Xmart has them them on sale around 70 gbp a few times a year.

Is it road-legal to restrict a 500W motor?

There is thousands of BSO's running around with 1000w motors stuck in them from Ebay, you don't see them littering the road side due to breakages. Having said that its a shady way to sell illegal ebikes.

    which bike?

The Claude Butler looks like a smaller geared hub, you will need one of the larger diameter ones for increased torque on hills. Woosh big bear, step through or cross bar, Any non eco Ezee bike. Any Tonaro and most crank drives. The bear and Ezee's are hub drives similar to the Giant, so the...

Its not just showing all the lights including the lowest 2 in red? one of my batteries shows 1 red and 4 green when full, if the red comes on alone it means its flat.

Most cost effective 12v highest a/h lithium battery setup.

If the PSU is rated for 3 amps you will have to lower the output as the voltage is stepping up to 16.8v at full charge which means the amount of amps in needs to be higher than the output. For example if you have 12v input and were charging a 24v battery you would need twice the amps in as out...

You could always go with a Lipo charging bag, they will smoke but every test I have read of says they will contain the fire. I store mine in the spare room now days in a Lipo bag, in an an old electric frypan with lid :) On the bike they are usually just put in the pannier bag inside a plastic...

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

Once the motor is throttled off its just a normal bike, if you still cant change gears a derailleur is probably not your ideal system.
