    Sunstar SO3 opinions

Be aware, ime the rohloff wont always change gear under load - stopping pedalling to change gear is the only way to ensure a smooth gear change

Advice for disabled rider on steep climbs - realistic?

Some conflicting advice given here My opinion- although not road legal, a bbshd conversion will deliver all the power you need. Simply drop down the gears to suit whatever the hill incline is A hub motor will 100% splutter & stall at low road speeds Your hard tail mtb could be suitable for...

    Recommendation for a 250 or 500w ekit

For a tall person, here’s the perfect donor bike https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F273613841555 The frame will take a hailong cased battery, and the rear dropouts will suit a q128h hub motor I know cause I’ve got a similar setup

    Battery life

I found the screen would attract unwanted attention. Plus I just never modulated power level anyway. To help the controller I’ve programmed the controller to feed in low current when initially pulling away Horses for courses though and i realise this setup isn’t for everyone I’ve gone...

    Self build full suspension emtb

Be very careful with water ingress when running the battery inverted like that. I’ve a hunch the case could fill with water if caught in a downpour

Raleigh Pioneer ebike half price £650

    Battery life

My bbs02 is limited to 20a but runs permanently at 100% speed 100% current. No display or buttons fitted to the bike. 25 miles and the eclipse 36v 17.4Ah 29E battery is spent - I’ve learned to live with the range.

    Q128 motor swap

The end cover from your old motor can be repurposed as a removal tool. A vice or even large stilsons on the threads can then get decent purchase. Keep the remains of your old motor for spares

Ebay bike - Full suspension trekking bike, good for conversion

Came across this bike on eBay. Very well specced, generous triangle for battery placement Brand new at £500. This bike layout is getting hard to find now No use for me as the frame is too small, and I prefer 29ers I’ve no connection to the seller! Hope it helps someone...

Convert high end 29er mountain bike or buy existing?

Another challenge to the OP is the disappearing QR rear axle on top spec 29ers for rear hub drive If the OP goes for mid drive, there are variable bottom brackets widths to contend with, and possible clashes with the chain stay once an appropriately sized chain ring is fitted Whichever drive...

    Q128 motor strip down

IMHO you’re correct to persevere with this motor, it’s superb You don’t need to lace spokes onto the new motor - instead you can renew the motor core of your existing wheel. This all depends on getting that pesky side cover off. Get angry with it :) Whilst you’re in there, upgrade the...

    Q128 motor strip down

Place the motor spline side down, then clamp the vice into the thin exposed edge of the side cover. It’s a case of incrementally tightening the vice whilst rotating the wheel until the cover turns. Scratching the aluminium cover is inevitable, but the scratches will be hidden by the derailleur...
