You can, but it will run at 36/48=3/4 of the claimed max speed (so if it runs at 240rpm at 48V it will only run at 180 rpm at 36V) Why not get a 36v front hub motor ?

Have you bought the Bafang 615 ? I'm not sure if there is an option to use 12 speed - there is also the Tongshen mid drives - they might be a possibility - maybe ask @Woosh Is there any option to return the bike and get your money back ? I'm not sure I would choose to start off with a 12...

It just will have much less range (3/5 ths) and as with any battery , as you use the battery the voltage drops and you get less power (but because it is a very small battery the voltage will drop quicker) I would seriously investigate AZ's option - you could get a 3rd party battery 36V 15 Ah...

Yes - the rear suspension of that Scott Genius has 3 settings that you can adjust from a lever on the handlebar : Locked (a bit pointless for me), Downhill (6 inches of travel) , Traction Control (4 inches of travel and compression damping increased). I think I will leave it in Traction...

I think that should be fine, the chainstay doesn't really flare out from where the existing 42t gear ring extends to and there is loads of clearance. I think I can position the 48t gear where the existing middle gear ring is and still have a decent amount of clearance and will be a better...
