    Cytronex Trek reliability

Not really. Cytronex covered this on another thread. Tried it a few times, nice low gear, pushing button in at about 2,3,4,5MPH, no problem. I think the alternative technique on really bad hills is to cycle very slightly downhill and turn back up. I can't envisage I'd ever need to do that...

They also sell dental stuff on a sister site. Bought a good electric toothbrush from them this week:D . Strangely enough it came up as the lowest cost on a search!

Couldn't agree more - especially when ongoing battery repacement is taken into account. But then electric bikes are a bit of a niche market and not really suitable for most people. Most people I suspect are to too scared to even go out on the road on two wheels. Cost doesn't even come into it...

Powabyke - X Byke - Retail Pics (pic heavy)

Yeah it is odd. I notice the batteries are still showing unavailable on the web site so maybe there's an issue there. Maybe they've all gone on their hols. Always worth an email to Mark check on the latest situation if you're interested. I've had mine 4 weeks now and still very happy with...

Powabyke - X Byke - Retail Pics (pic heavy)

Actually, I think, £945 for a month or so. I haven't yet seen any new figure mentioned. The site still shows cost as £995. Maybe I missed something. The Trek 7.3FX 2009, can be found on the Web. It's selling for an extra 50 quid at the moment. Only part of the Cytronex cost, I know, but a...

Cadence and finding the 'sweet spot'

Thanks James. I never though of that - probably because I don't wear a watch and I'm long sighted to boot. Must get one with a big second hand.

Cadence and finding the 'sweet spot'

85 RPM on the flat is recommended to avoid a certain type of knee problem (ITB friction syndrome) with minimal effort up the hills. How you can measure RPM without cadence on your bike computer is a mystery to me.

Cadence and finding the 'sweet spot'

Yes when I first had my bike I spent most the time in the highest couple of gears. It was another thread where I think it was Flecc who recommended a cadence of 60 - 70 cycles. I tried this and found it was much more comfortable. It's definately easier on my knees as well. My most enjoyable ride...

LOL. I didn't like to say before but that really does sum it up (esp the rocket launcher). Shame really because I liked the original pictures I saw. Not to say it's a bad bike though. Interesting to see how you find it, the weight, cycling uphill, cycling downhill, handling, noise etc etc. Big...

    what? Why? Where? When? How?

I'm impressed. Having the speedo brings my competitive streak out as well. My average speed for the entire jorney is quite low about 12.3mph but that's because of all the junctions and the route I take. Mind you the wrong time of the day and thats still much better than my car. Also just...

    what? Why? Where? When? How?

Agree with RAD. It's can be done but would you really want to. I have to travel off site. Same as you often more than 100 miles. Same as you my wife has a car but needs it for work. I expect to make use of my bike on average about 3 days a week. My car is fully depreciated, fuel efficient and...

    Assault by Taxi

The ultimate irony would be for him to lose his license and have to get a bike. Shame we can't get people like this hooked up to the national grid. On gernerating machines that is. :D

    Got my Cytronex!

Flecc HarryB Many Thanks. I really hadn't understood NIMH at all. This has corrected my view that it was better to recharge the battery when it ran out of power rather than keep it topped up. My commute is relatively short - 8 miles round trip at most. From what you say it seems it would be...

    Got my Cytronex!

Hi Rad 15 mile round trip sounds good. Don't forget the cost of replacement batteries though. The Cytronex NIMH battery, I think, costs £150. The Lithium ion costs more but probably takes a lot more charges before it fails. I can't find the details. The Cytronex I think, from memory, does...
