    Cycle helmet wearers are reckless

If only reckless people posting here are helmet wearers then might that be an indication that helmets work, at least for the reckless.

Replacing dérailleur cables. SRAM SX5 twist shifters.

Anyone had any experinence replacing the cable with these shifters. I have no clue as the manual says set the shifter to the highest gear(rear) and then feed the cable through. The advertising even suggests these are easy cable replace shifters. Three fruitless hours last night and a lot of...

    Recumbent electric trike

update well I thought it about time for another update. Seem to be getting over the teething problems I had with the gears although it took three attepmt by the bike shop. It is a fantastically fun thing to ride and I have to say I don,t feel at all unsafe in the low down position although I...

    lipo range?

I have now managed to get out and about a bit on my recumbent trike and although I really enjoy it one thing I find very disappointing is the range. I managed 19kms before the battery gave up. It is a 260w 25.9v 10Ah LiPo and the company suggests a range of 50kms although this is for flat...

Went the long steep way home.

Thanks Bob, my bikes a KMX recumbent trike with a drive train motor from a local company here in Zurich. It's getting a bit parky here too but I have to say I prefer it as it's easier for me to keep my temperature down.

Went the long steep way home.

Now my bikes back on the road I'm rediscovering the joys of pedelecing. Today I went the long steep way home for no other reason than I could For me that sums up the joy of electric bikes I probably got more exercise this way than I would have on a normal bike because I would have either come...

    Recumbent electric trike

Update Well, I seem to be getting there. Still having some troubles with the gear change but after a couple of trips to the bike shop it's acceptable still skips occasionally but not so horribly. I think a Rolhoff will be in order when I'm a bit more solvent.

    Recumbent electric trike

The Saga continues Well I've been busy but I thought I'd add a quick update on the recumbent. I finally got the replacement battery back and was extremely pleased with the performance. It delivered more power than the Nimh battery and the issue with cutting out on hills seemed to be resolved...

    Powered pedal cycle in collision

There is no statistical evidence to show that helmet wearing increases trench saftey and in fact may increase the wears risk. :p

Cyclists flout the law to stay safe

Here in Zurich I sometimes feel like the odd one out as I seem to be one of only a few people that stops at pedestrian crossing and red lights. Cyclist here seem to be a lot more aggressive than in the UK but then again motorist seem a lot less likely to return the aggression. In one of the...

    Recumbent electric trike

Doh! Thanks yet again flecc that makes a lot more sence than expanding metal. I have moved the motor a little further down the boom so that the chain is taught. Hopefully that should fix the issue.

    Recumbent electric trike

Hhhhmmm I checked again and what I thought was a stretched chain link was infact maybe the master link. I wonder how sensitive chains are to the weather. It's been pretty warm here over the last week which is when this started happening. The one day when it was a little cooler the chain...

    Recumbent electric trike

The saga continues I absolutely love triking and having a leccy motor but I seem to be having an endless stream of problems which has blunted my boundless joy to only be joy. I snapped the chain 2 weeks ago and now the chain that powers the crank from the motor is stretched as well. I have a...
