Replacement Smart eBike batteries by BionX,

Dave, I like a lot of your posts and I consider you much more principled than many others in that little cut-throat cottage industry, the UK E-bike market. On this occasion, although I wasn't a member of the forum at the time, I was an avid reader of the pages but I cannot remember any of the...

Replacement Smart eBike batteries by BionX,

So would everyone else, were that the case but I haven't actually said that. My allusion was to the fact that advertising is important to the site provider but to interpret that to suggest the dealers say what goes is stretching things more than a little. Tom

Replacement Smart eBike batteries by BionX,

The webmaster/mod/site owner/whatever has previously ejected members but not for being dickheads. I think if member comments cause an advertiser to pull out and the site loses revenue, then that is more likely to inspire serious action. The last time I remember an event which may have provoked...

    Vive la France!

It's very difficult as there is a choice between hard decisions and no decision at all. Unfortunately, across Europe there is the most enormous fudge over the whole issue, inevitable when political leaders wish to be all things to all men and postpone making a decision about numbers, hoping the...

    Eurostar about-turn!

It only merits a sidebar inclusion on the BBC News website but that is understandable today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34815867 Tom

Mark the 12th Jan 2016 in your diary

Here's another opportunity to see how our justice system views the lives of cyclists on our roads today. You can quickly get the gist of the story on the attached link but sentence has been deferred till January. My view is that the courts need to start getting tough with thuggish drivers who...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

As far as I know Trex, the adjective you have used before the word 'feature' isn't a word. That leaves readers two choices: (a) derisible or (b) desirable. They each mean something very different from the other!;) Tom

What kits can be fitted to a road bike.

Brilliant concept but I'm disappointed, though not surprised, to read that it's noisy. The price, to which you rightly allude, does limit the potential market demographic somewhat. Nevertheless, it's a system that may well benefit from further development in the future though power output is...

What kits can be fitted to a road bike.

On a roadbike, many of which are ultra-light nowadays, these little motors provide ample power and as they are not needed all the time, overall mileage from the battery can be pretty good. Hills and headwinds are the bits that hurt and that's where these lightweight kits come into their own...

    192mph........hero!

A complete re-think of the philosophy of road use is required. There is no need to particularly change any laws as such; just provide enforcement with harsh penalties for offenders until the message hits home. Living in a free country doesn't entitle anyone to do as they please with impunity! Tom

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

On my 28" tyres, I have always kept the pressures at 65psi and I have never had a puncture and drag is pretty well non-existent. They do roll well and grip is strong under heavy braking. Tom

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

For peace of mind, I second SteveRuss's suggestion to fit Schwalbe MPs. They're about as good as it gets for puncture resistance. As for Presta valves, they are pretty reliable so I'd say just get used to them. Energiser tyres are very good in my opinion, offering good roll characteristics...

Looking to buy Specialised Turbo. Can i have it re flashed?

I don't understand why they are needed, other, perhaps, than to fulfil a perverse desire to break the law. Tom

    192mph........hero!

Hero? No, I think not. The subject of this piece of news from the BBC news website today is simply a moronic criminal who is still not prepared to enter adulthood at 42 years of age. Being grown up requires some personal responsibility in many things and not least, respect for other people...

    Best oil for bike chain

For over a year now, I have been using Purple Extreme and it's the third dry lub I have used. The others, both recommended in various places were ok to apply but seemed to need quite frequent applications, ie, didn't seem to last on, or in, the chain very long. On using PE for the first time...
