    Birmingham Cycle Show

I must have missed the price or is that just an assumption? Regardless, I do like the concept but I couldn't imagine the bike being very powerful as EAPCs go.....till I realised it's carbon and probably weighs about the same as one of my pannier bags. Given that it is very light, it...

    magniclight

Gulp!..........Well, I rarely ride in the dark and my bikes all have pretty decent lights fitted as standard and no battery replacement required so I can save myself a few bob for something else. Nice idea though and the product might appeal to some heavy-duty commuters. Tom

    magniclight

Although I haven't yet visited their website, the short video clip is very impressive. I wasn't aware of this product but if it's cheap enough and offers decent longevity through robust build and protection, it should be a winner. I'll visit the website now! Tom

2013 Kalkhoff Pro Connect Xion X24 bike for sale

Same as my favourite choice of 3 EAPCs still available to me and it never ceases to amaze me how smooth and powerful it is with the updated software. I haven't a clue about the price but I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with the power delivery from zero to cut-off. Mine has just...

50 cycles dirty tactics - how low can you go

Yes, something ought to be done about that! Perhaps..... 1) Speak to Tim Snaith about it 2) Speak to a solicitor if (1) fails to resolve your difficulty 3) Complain to the forum administrator here - I think a ban on 50Cycles posting would be in order for maybe, let's see....30 minutes? Tom

    Anyone got a Tasman Impulse 8 ?

Mike, as you know, very little in this world is 100% reliable but Shimano hub gears are pretty good. I have an 8-speed Nexus-geared machine which continues to perform beautifully after several years. Chains last very well, I find; indeed, the whole transmission is almost maintenance-free. If...

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

There is a fundamental involved in this this thread. If we consider that from the invention of the machine we recognise today as a pedal cycle, right up to the present, the one constant which defined that machine and made it distinctively different from other forms of transport was the fact...

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

These prices seem very reasonable to me compared to the mainstream competition. I'm not fond of battery on rear rack with a rear hub motor so the only one that interests me is the first model, the eTR U. Hydraulic disc brakes and Heinzmann power should make for a strong bike on the road...

    gazelle or kalkoff?

My pragmatic and empirical view gives the prize to the Agattu. What might change my mind? Only if a Gazelle supplier has a shop next door to me and has been there for many years. Tom

    gazelle or kalkoff?

Although I'm out of touch with Gazelle, Koga, Batavus, Sparta and the other Dutch brands, the comments supplied by members a long time ago in this thread were certainly relevant at the time. The major Dutch EAPC suppliers never really supplied the type of power required by most UK users and...

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

That's what cycling's all about surely? If someone can't ride a bike because it's too taxing, electrical assistance helps considerably. If that still proves too difficult, then for a lot less money than high-end EAPCs, one of these does it all: ....or for a little more money: .....or, if...

    A2B Shima, s-pedelec 500W

I'm sure the price is reasonable for your moped but there's a limited number of people want a machine that looks like a moped, doesn't meet the criteria for an EAPC and weighs in at around 33Kgs. Best of luck! Tom

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

I would think that's a great choice Mike. My only reservation is that it's £500 more than the '9' and I'm not sure the bike is really £500 better than that one. I could find a lot of things to do with £500 while still enjoying a very good Pro-Connect. Nevertheless, if you're happy to pay the...

    Let's keep the throttle!

I'm bound to say Mike, I find your comment somewhat disdainful and certainly unnecessary. I thought I explained clearly in post #56 how I view throttles on EAPCs and how I cope without one. As it happens, no hill has ever defeated me on my Xion-powered PC although I have had that experience on...

    New here

Hi and welcome JohnA. I'm not familiar with your bike but there are possibilities at crank and hub ends to make the kind of adjustment you want. Perhaps one of the inveterate tinkerers who has some experience of your model will pop up and recommend the best way to deal with your issue. Tom

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

Mike, picking up on 'farmer's' point, I think the Kalkhoff PC 9 with the Impulse 2 motor possibly addresses the issues you have found with the Tasman. It's priced very well and there may be a 10% discount to be had this month as I just got an email about 50Cycles' latest sale. I didn't check...

    3 gears and 7 gears?

Bella, the best bit of advice out of the responses is that you ought to get along to the seller and take the bike for a test-ride. While you're at it, you should also test-ride something dissimilar, preferably from a different maker and with a few more gears because you will want to cycle more...

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

Yes Steve, I looked at the Tasman and thought the same as you. That's why I wondered if perhaps Mike had had a problem with his Kalkhoff and didn't want another bike from 50Cycles. Tom

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

Leaving aside the pros and cons of brake systems for a moment, this thread has demonstrated another of those areas of confusion which 'modern times' has helped create. As with the difficulty many have describing correctly, the foot placement areas adjacent to the bike crank, i.e. pedals and not...
