    Raleigh Stonefly Conversion?

I wouldn’t want a BMS, inaccessable from my volt meter, and if was ever a fault and reliant on a service technician it’s more time spent on the bench to repair or replace faulty components. Also the present BMS I utilise disconnects at 36 volts and once or twice the magic wire has somehow...

Commuting to work on ebike in London

Wow, tank bike, awesome. Only missing the machine guns and turret although are surely stealth installed. Glad I’m not the only one using bin bags as battery weather protection.

    Scooter no batteries required

What! Some of those pouches I suspect are older than their owners. What happens when the dog spots a cat?

    Hello from Bulgaria

Didn’t try that only a beaker with approximate 1ltr of water and worked a treat. The powder fire extinguisher wasn’t effective the flame went out however, the thermal run away within the battery remained and water (coolant) ceased the reaction. Was a good practical learning experience.

    Hello from Bulgaria

On the subject of short circuit lithium’s are lethal. I punched a hole in one and moved away from the area at great speed. Become a mini flame thrower. Found water better than a fire extinguisher, must be the cooling effect. Each to their own and my learning curve on lithium battery fire...

    Hello from Bulgaria

Inventive and I’m sure a solution. I in the end went with nickel strips and solder with the black battery holders that clip together. Next time I’ll use the welder.

    Raleigh Stonefly Conversion?

Motor hubs are the way to go imho, the hubs take away a reliance on gears in respects that if gears become faulty, etc, the hub keeps on going. The brake motor power cut-off I find very reassuring way to disconnect the motor from the battery. Also throttles are known to go faulty.

    Hello from Bulgaria

First attempt at a battery build. Without an enclosure to keep the pressure on the caps (wasn’t possible the discharge/charging cables prevent) the design was always doomed to fail. Bulgarian roads and dirt tracks soon pull the caps from the battery.

I have sat on the sidelines and learnt alot

I started with 16ah and found disruptive voltage sag appeared after 25Km. I then increased to a 25Ah battery and rebuilt the battery again to its final 11p10s, 35.2Ah configuration using LG MH1 batteries. At 15-20kmh the power just never drops. Keep us all in the loop with the second build.

    Hello from Bulgaria

I’ll keep to the lower power unit wouldn’t want the motor departing the bicycle. Very pleased accomplished yesterday 40kms and on full charge. I did peddle although nought strenuous. The final 23kms was on full throttle 60km in total. 80kms is the goal and I believe attainable on that battery...

    Finally, it’s done!! First ride.

Don’t crash captain. Best to ease yourself into the daily ride also familiarise yourself with the road and where to take care particular those potholes. And having noted the potholes and road issues on my route to Yambol covered 6.2 miles in sixteen minutes all on throttle includes a 1km hill...

    Hello from Bulgaria

I suspect are indeed correct D8veh. I’ve owned both a 1000w and 750w wheel hubs although from Conhis Motors. This alleged 500w motor pulls 900 watts (according to the SW900) when unrestricted top speed beyond 50kmh therefore add 33% to that and parity with a 1000w 48v motor.

    throttle question

Throttle wires are positive, negative and ground. As wrote certain throttles have additional two wires. If you connect positive to ground there maybe an issue. Photo tells a thousands words.

Nice build, slick. I had to magnify the image to see the wheel hub, it’s very compact.
