    Battery Fires

So you are really saying it is credible that in 2023 there were 176 e-bike/scooter fires in London (pop 9 million) and 23 in the rest of the UK (68 million - 9 million = 59 million) ?

    Battery Fires

"Show me the bodies" was the argument used by the civil servant that pushed back against the numerous calls for tighter regulation around external cladding and insulation prior to Grenfell.

    Battery Fires

It's hard to reconcile those figures with the OPSS analysis https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fires-in-e-bikes-and-e-scooters/07948b8a-2855-4fd3-b205-b9b2f03b6a7c Especially since 176 out of the 199 fires reported to the OPSS were reported by LFB, which says to me other Fire...

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

Yes, we do see this here, but there are also a lot of members that love their elegant Bosch full suspension bikes ( and would be horrified to ride round on our "clunkers" :-) ) and have done many miles with no problems and are happy to pay the bike shop service costs / any repair / new battery...

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

Just one thing to be aware of , the maximum motor assist will be set to 15.5 mph / 25 km/h as per UK law and it is very difficult to get round that on the more expensive proprietary bikes (which would be breaking the law anyway ! but is usually possible on the cheaper Chinese generic bikes )

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

I can't see any hills :) If you are used to cycling unpowered I think you are getting to be pleasantly surprised by ebikes and the gradients that you will get up on them ! I'm in my sixties and over 100kg and on my admittedly quite powerful (48V max current 18A) rear hub bike , this hill...

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

Here is an earlier thread on someone with similar requirements https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/advice-on-buying-an-e-bike.47952/?view=date eta - notice the 29" eleglide M2 is in stock - looks a good deal and well equipped https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CQCBW9D6 Hydraulic Front...

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

What sort of riding do you anticipate doing ? Mostly road based ?, trails and forest tracks ? mountain bike off roading ? What sort of distances ? Just had a quick look - looked a fair share of hills but nothing too extreme - does the ADO Air 28 have gears ? - I think you would want one with...

    AliExpress Cyber Monday

I think Ali is particularly good on the store information, number of regular buyers, how many years old, number of followers, how many items sold in last 6 months, store rating, communication rating, reviews. If you take all that and look at the item descriptions and communicate with the...

    Q128 alternatives?

    But a 201 rpm motor in a 20" wheel won't go very fast ?

Is there a better deal out there, than PSWPower's 36V 20Ah G70 battery with Samsung 48X or 50E 21700 cells?

Check the continuous discharge current (I think 25 amps on the one you were looking at) rather than the nominal wattage. So drawing 20 amps will be fine

    Q128 alternatives?

I don't really understand, do you need a longer range? what makes you suspect your current solution isn't energy efficient ?

    Q128 alternatives?

I think the consensus is the akm-128 (and it's clone the q128) are among the best hub motors. What controller are you using and what is the maximum current ? Using the KT controller and it's PAS levels definitely maximises the range afaic. The other option would be mid motor but I'm sceptical...

    Move disc rotor

Yes, so I think I have flat washer next to the head, then concave facing downward and then convex fitting upwards into the concave

    Move disc rotor

That would make it look like it means business a 20" wheel with 180mm caliper. What adapter would I need ?
