    Which Front Hub Motor?

I feel your pain/confusion. Just been through all of this motor stuff in my thread 'Return to the bent'. The 250/270rpm motors are the right ones for a 26" wheel if you want legal maximum speed. I've just bought an AKM128h from Topbikekit. Like you I needed that legal speed in a 26", but they...

    Batteries Charging Routine

On a recent holiday, 4 of us were out cycling the Kennet and Avon tow path. There waqs along run of locks just outside Devizes so a long haul uphill. I noticed that my brother in law had dropped way behind, so we stopped. When he caught up he was complaining that his motor had 'broken'...

    Return to the bent!

Order's been dispatched - the big wait is on. Went out on the bent last night, for the first time used setting 5/9 and got up a serious climb I'd not tackled before. But, my God, the Dillinger makes some odd noises, it really does not like hills.

    Hub motor cassette

The AKM128sxhc is what I've just ordered. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Return to the bent!

It seems to come from the usual misunderstanding that an 800w motor 'sucks' that power when it will only produce what it is given. It's kinda like, I might have the capacity for a large portion of chips but if I'm only given a small portion that's all I can eat :D

    Return to the bent!

Order has been actioned, but here is the reply from TBK 'We has received your payment and will help you arrange goods to send out as soon as possible. BTW, you use T09S controller to fit the 800W RPM328 motor may not have enough power. If you use it on an uphill, we suggest that you replace...

    Return to the bent!

Turns out I have got a Paypal account after all. Who knew? I didn't, must have opened it years ago, never saw the need for it and forgot all about it. It's allowed as I'm officially an old git.

    Return to the bent!

I've had a mail back from topbikekit telling me that I can pay their paypal with a link: topbikekit@outlook.com But this is an e-mail address. Anyone know how the hell I use a credit or debit card to pay this? I don't have a paypal account.

    Return to the bent!

Having spent a long time carefully formulating the order to contain exactly what I wanted, I somehow selected the wrong payment method. Topbikekit are now waiting for a payment from Wells Fargo which I can't make. AAARRRRGH! Colour me stoopid. I've sent customer support a message and...

    Return to the bent!

Thanks guys, think I'll go for the 3 as I've seen it mentioned a lot in posts so there'll be plenty of help with any programming issues.

    Return to the bent!

Just putting the shopping basket together. I need a display with seperate buttons, was looking at LCD3 - is this going to give me the best functionality bearing in mind I'm going to need to set cut off speed? The shape of the LCD8s would suit the fitting location better (at greater cost) but...

    Return to the bent!

I was just going to press the order button and found myself hesitating. Sorry to labour this but I want to be sure before spending my hard earned. So, I'm going to order a 48v 328rpm motor and run it at 36v to get 250rpm. I'm assuming that running at the lower voltage it will need more current...

    Return to the bent!

Well then that's good enough for me and if I ever run it at 48v the speed limiter in the display had better work and I'll carry an anchor just in case. So, just to be clear 'cos it's 10:15 and I'm on my second single malt, it's this...

    Return to the bent!

OK, gotcha. But will it develop the torque for west Wales hills?

    Return to the bent!

Thanks guys. I live in hilly west wales. I'm new to recumbent riding and I'm currently finding the hills painful, yet to build the different muscle set in my 70 year old legs. So, we'd previously landed on the 800w freewheel as being more able to take the grunt to get me up the hills. The bike...

    Return to the bent!

What road speed would 201rpm give in a 26" wheel? (I don't have the maths skills) I'll use the 36v batteries 'till they're spent, then I may go to 48v.

    Return to the bent!

I had to put the conversion of my Velotechnic street machine on hold for a while, but now I'm back. I bought the bike with an existing 48v Dillinger kit that has got to go. The motor does not like hills and the battery is getting hammered, it may be past it's best anyway. I have two 36v...

    Petrol engine for bicycle

Nowhere in the blurb does it mention legality or otherwise. It also keeps saying that it's a way to covert your bike to an electric bike?!!!o_O At that price I can see there being a few around. 45-50kph on a bike with dodgy rim brakes.....yeh, lets all have some. Hopefully they make so much...

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

If they are confiscating bikes on a truck how come they aren't waiting outside every Halfords for deliveries of scooters?
