    Museum of Scotland

This is a great idea place with quite a few interesting bike related exhibits. There is the first carbon fibre bike (1990 I think it was) that looks rather like the current vogue for frame integrated motors and batteries on many of the 2018 bikes. Also, the first recumbent (1932).

    Velosolex

Don't see many of these. The antique shop wanted £950. I know it's not electric.

    All electric at the cricket

I'm at the T20 Blast cricket in Chesterfield today. Cycled in on our Brompton Sparticles and chained them up in the ground. A little later I see 4 more bikes next to us, all of them electric. Is this a record?

Saw this today in Horncastle, Lincs.

    Oxydrive front wheel motor

I purchased and installed an Oxydrive kit on a Scott Sub10 a little over 2 years ago. I had many other bikes so used this bike infrequently, perhaps 500 miles in total to date. The motor is now making a very unpleasant "graunching" sound, especially when under load. My question is, can the motor...

Kalkhoff Sahel Compact for spares to repair

I suppose this should be in the classified section but I thought someone on the main section might be interested. I have a 2012 bike as in the thread title which has a dead motor (Impulse 1). The bike itself has many parts that may be of value to someone. The motor may even be of interest to...

Raleigh Leeds - 26v Panasonic motor

I have a 6 year old bike as per the title that is a great bike in many respects, smooth and comfortable but lacks the power to deal with hills around here. My question is, would I get more power if the battery was re-celled with higher discharge cells? And / or, the battery was increased to 30v...

2011 Wisper 706 alpino - LCD Display Unit Malfunction?

This is my wife's favourite bike (and we do have a lot to choose from) and has been largely trouble free for most of its life. Yesterday, on switching on, the display unit turned on showing all the characters and symbols possible and then just faded away to nothing. This is all that it will do...

Fitting disk brakes to a frame without tabs

I am currently moving all the components from a Kudos Tornado (frame damaged off-roading) to a old Mongoose NX 8.3 full suspension frame. I'm sure there will be a few problems on the way, but initially I need to resolve the disk brake issue. I have read about the A2Z Universal Disk Mount so...

    Hill in Polruan

Wasn't yesterday a fantastic day for a ride. I was delivering a bike down to Looe in Cornwall so I took advantage of being in the area to have a ride over to Fowey and back. The hill down to the ferry in Polruan was sketchy going down (on my Brompton - do all Bromptons have rubbish brakes?) and...

Do you have a 2014-2015 Kalkhoff with a small LED display?

How do you (can you) reset the trip distance? The manual only seems to give these details for the larger display. Perhaps it automatically resets after 24 hours? The manual also says it shows trip and total distance at the bottom of the display, does it toggle between the two or is this...

    Oxygen Emate Battery

I have received a call from an owner of a 4 year old Oxygen Emate with a dead battery (13Ah). He has been advised that replacement batteries are no longer available. Does anyone know differently?

    Canoe towed by bike

Saw this at a Vintage bike event in Barnstaple today. He usually tows it with a Brompton and then puts the Brompton in the canoe to paddle up the river. Great idea. Crate in the middle is for his dog.

    Cycling Sculpture

Saw this today (at Broomhill Art Hotel, N.Devon). My wife said it looked a bit like us on our electric bikes!

    Exmoor Climbs

This page from Eric van der Horst's London - Land's End Cycle Route shows the most challenging section from our recent ride. This was part of our last (hardest) day's 62 mile leg. We did the Tarr Steps option.

    Look no chain!

Saw (what I presume is) the new cycle hire bike scheme in Reading on our way through last week. The bikes have the Nexus 3-speed hub gear and no chain. I know it's not a new idea, but do you think chainless bikes will ever catch on? We didn't see many being used while we were there.
