    Speed matters

For recreation I totally understand But for commuting 12 Mph vs 20mph is a lot of time saved, everyday if you have a moderate or long commute. My bike will do nearly 17 on battery power and leg power to hit 20. By doing between 17 and 20 I save nearly an hour a day. With four kids that's...

What do you think of my new bike-rack bag?

Me too ....and the foil blanket is a great idea If you have a smartphone I can't speak highly enough of Road I'D app The missus knows when I left, can track me if she can be arsed. But mostly in the event I am still for longer than a preset time it alerts whoever you choose to last known time...

New GSM kit fitted but will not kick in on hills ?

Well, I had pretty just about the first one woosh sold - certainly from earliest pre-ordered batch . I believe nealh also I understand from trex and others that the internal controller has undergone a few iterations since then and the amp draw issue has gone away. But my older battery has a...

    Two wheel drive electric bike

Im not sure. I just overvolt 36v ones - though success or failure very dependant on caps used in the controller

    Two wheel drive electric bike

Interesting point of view I've not seen explained here before. Out of interest, in your view, would the same effect be achieved by having one motor (let's say 36v 250w) and one battery of 36v BUT also having a booster pack (say 11.1v) that is switched in went you want that boost A 36v system...

    Embarrassment

I have some heated glove liners They came with crap batteries which I replaced straight away for a small, quality pack I made myself from 18650 cells I first had heated gloves but these were ski style and too big But, you know what, the best for me came about through an illness. I had to...

    So many decisions!

Again, you must test In particular try to test a hub drive vs a crank drive My suspicion is that a crank drive will suit your big hills and dodgy knees the most ......but try! :) I have three ebikes and couldn't get any onto a roof.rack by myself I can get them onto a hatchback style rear...

    Newbie with a headache!

Flecc is right..... but you'd still have other options. For example buying a different standard battery and attaching to the frame, rack or in a bag Or get one made up to fit - Jimmy at insat can and does make batteries to order. He is a true expert with decent prices and customer service My...

    Another Boris Johnson consequence

Just a second flecc but the window design I feel is a bit of a stretch to lay at Johnson's door (P.S. I do feel a little sick that I appear to be defending the man, but this one specific point may be step far ?)

    Hello All!

I have a gsm 250w which is basically a bafang copy. If derestricted it can do 25mph on the flat. It also climbs anything the South Downs can chuck at it tthrough the gears. And this on a 29er hardtail with knobby tires It absolutely kills batteries in unrestricted mode so apart from a few...

    Two wheel drive electric bike

I have made quite a few batteries with recoveredb laptop cells I wanted to learn more than anything. Practically they are SO time consuming to recover cells, test cells and build packs....... For pretty poor performance and, crucial for me, poor longevity. I would not bother , I gave up a...

    Hello All!

Welcome to forum I was born and bred in deep herts countryside. I would not go near a recumbent round there either !! That 140 range is quite exceptional ! Bet on 30 to 50 imho as an unfit (or in my case lazy) cyclist

    Hello All!

No need for rudeness Soundwave Also, and importantly, I don't believe you are correct. There was a fad for off road buttons. These are illegal. The fact you can reprograme doesn'tb make a legal kit illegal. You can mess with any legal setup and make it illegal. I can do so on mine by adding...

    Converting a Birdy Folder

If the motor is wound for 20inch but you put it in a 18 inch (for vice versa) I think you trade a little torque for speed. Not a whole lot mind, should be fine
