2 innertubes punctured while fitting new Marathon Plus tyre :-(

As Flecc said, with the one side of the tyre on, fit and inflate the tube, then take the valkve out, make sure bthat the tyre wall goes right don into the centre of the rim when you finally close it at the valve. I was taught to then push the valve in, to insure that any tube likely to get...

Would it be possible to change the rider v motor power ratio on a crank drive system?

The easiest way to achieve what the OP wants is to have a 'click throttle' the same as on my electric boat. Just arrange for positive click stops in the throttle as you advance it. For safety, fit a dead man button.

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

The e-bike offers freedom in a way that a petrol bike cannot. At least in the UK. As avronb says above, cycle paths, canal paths etc. Of course, if you live in London, then maybe in some areas there are few advantages, but where I live there are miles of such paths from which all motor vehicles...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

The OP asked how to get more people into e-biking. These people could come from present cyclists wanting a bit of help or non cyclists who want a lot of help. For the first category, the proportional pedelec is ideal. For the second group it is a non starter.

    Bad News

Flecc, If that is the case, perhaps it should be pointed out to the Government that they have nothing whatsoever to do with e-bikes and recumbents and therefore should not have a voice in the matter.

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

I am totally with Jimod on this one. I cycled for years until the hills became too much. Now I have an e-bike, I only pedal going up hills. To me, its like my old cyclemaster and early single gear mopeds, basically a very light motor bike that needs to be pedalled up hills.

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

Well, I suppose that is one thing the much despised EU could bring about. After all, if it was not for them we would still be stuck with 180 watts and 12 mph. Imagine the absolute fury, the boiling rage, the near apoplexy of white van man etc. if UK bikes get continental style priority!

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

Unless battery costs get very much cheaper, I cannot see a large market for e-bikes. The motors could be very cheap with mass production, for example, a 1200 watt motored vacuum cleaner sells complete for less than £50. A low quality bike is less than £100 in Tescos, controllers, and throttles...

    Replacement Battery Prices

My main problem with batteries is distinguishing the various 'Lithium' types, and their varying characteristics.

That is utterly ludicrous. When they go bankrupt, maybe they will smell the coffee.

    e-Bike of the Year 2011

I think he might be a tad worried. The potential market for the Raddar is small and likely confined to sports cyclists prepared to admit that they might like a little assistance. If volume sales take off, then probably the roadster type will sell better. I have no knowledge of the current sales...

e-Bike of the Year 2011 (Unlimited Budget)

Well, I suppose it is what kind of e-cyclist you are. To me, the Storkk is not what I want and I wouldn't buy it if it was only £500. a No suspension b Uncomfortable riding position, (Not upright) c Hub motor (Getting really dated now) d Battery is only 260 watts. e. Battery is odd...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

My experience is that most enquirers are over 60 years old and although intrigued are put off by the price. In Belgium, a cyclist probably in his forties overtook me and stopped me, as so many of the Belgians can, he spoke perfect English. He had seen my Tonaro motor which is reminiscent of a...

    Regarding hall effect sensor throttles...

Roger, I know how you feel, I began to strip my 20 year old pedal bike down with a view to repainting. I found that I could buy a brand new one in Tesco's for less than £100. Worse, these new bikes have full (cheap) suspension and alloy wheels. Sometimes its just as well to let go!

low speed wobble in my IZIP Via Mezza Enlightened folding 20" wheel e bike

Turn the bike upside down and rotate the back wheel with the pedals. See if anything is unbalanced there. Put the bike upright, put the front brake on hard and push back and forward to see if the head bearings are loose. Check the spokes are tight. Check the tyres are on properly, if they have...

    Tonaro owners unite !

Flecc, We must agree to differ on this one. As I have said before, there are different types of e-bike riders and what really suits one does not suit another. It is good that the present market caters for these differences, and I suppose that this is what this poll is all about. Me? Tonaro!
