What is the maximum price you would spend on an electric bike?

Although fairly able at bike repairs, I was uncertain when it came to electricity. Even a friend who is an elecrician balked at the electronics and pointed out that ideally, an e-bike mechanic needs mechanics, electrics and electronics in his training. I was impressed by certain web site for a...

Throttle and pedelec stop working on bumps

If all else fails, try reading the instructions!!!! Seriouly though, let's try and re-construct what is happening. You go over a bump, the throttle and pedelec fail. You stop, switch off and back on and everythings OK? So, exactly what is being moved etc. when you do this? Could it be the...

    Dangers of biking

Better tell the council. Years ago there was a tragic motor cycle accident in Swansea where a motorcyclist hit a raised portion of road and came off, slid across the road and hit the kerb. The defect was repaired the same day.

Maintenance stand and thoughts on a battery indicator.

I do my maintnance in my garage. I have a twin pulley system, I hook the one pulley to one of the beams, put a sling around the seat post or handlebar and hook the other pulley to it. Just pull the bike up in the air as far as you like.

    Help with the law please

My guess is that the officer used words to the effect:- 'The facts will be reported for a prosecution to be considered for..........' Then added virtually everything that he could think of. What will happen is that he will need advice from supervisors, and at that point, the true situation...

The Times launches a campaign to improve the safety of cycling

Sorry Steve, I do not agree. When you start a campaign like this, the majority of the public will not care, a good proportion will be anti-cyclist and horrified by the fact that in order to allocate road space to cyclists, 'their' road space for cars will have to be reduced. (See the Chelsea...

Knocked off my bike this morning- Write off?? Advice?? Fault??

I did not go into details in case I frightened you, but as some time has passed and you are OK, I will. When you have been in an accident such as this, you have no idea if you are injured. Serious injuries do not hurt because the body releases endomorphins to numb the site of the injury...

Knocked off my bike this morning- Write off?? Advice?? Fault??

I know it sounds awful, but in these sort of circumstances, the best is to lie on the road, use your phone to call an Ambulance and Police and let them cart you off to hospital for a check up. The Police will take details, so you have an independant witness to any admissions etc. Too often...

What is the impulse system exactly. Is it just a name, or are there actual impulses used?

    Step through versus crossbar.

Well I have heard this said about Europe, but as far as I can see, generally they are the same as us. Check youtube for Dutch and Belgian cyclists.

My guess is that they were just interested, like so many other peopl are. Bare in mind that some Police forces issue e-bikes.

Manufacturer's product life expectancies and monopolies on spare parts

I have been through about 6 microwave ovens in the past 20 years. Admittedly they were all cheap ones, but they all started to rust quite soon.
